Cutting our losses...Brez is clairvoyant
Interesting how personnel decisions sometimes allow us to avoid a train wreck and throwing good money after bad.
First that comes to mind is letting Greenard go elsewhere, where he suffered a pec injury which kept him out of most of the Eagles Training Camp and the first two regular season games...furthermore, while he is now on the field, he suffered an ankle. Which allowed the opening for Dallas Turner to emerge.
Second is not resigning both Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave. As you know, Hargrave is out for the Packers the rest of the seaon with an Achilles injury. And Allen, has missed time so far this season with lesser injuries.
The younger talent replacing those high-priced players is just nothing but a head-shaker. Expensive free agency is simply exposing the fact that your team had sh*tty drafts.
Please God, just one Lombardi before I die.
Anyone still uncomfortable with the return we got for Greenard? If Hurts misses significant time, that 3 is going to look closer to a 2.

Brez is a rock. No one better in the league regarding contracts / financials IMO.
Lucky to have him.
It takes a village to win a Lombardi.
Brez has been a key player for a long while now...
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

I can't see Philly winning many games with Hurts out indefinitely. Even if Barkley and Devonta come back this week, there are cracks all over that team...

People keep saying that. What makes you say that? I look at Brez and he had the poison pill contract a billion years ago. I liked the frontloading of contracts. After that seems pretty average. Seems like he missed the more recent trends.

Agree to a point.
But we also tend to sleep on the fact that Van Ginkel, Cashman, Eric Wilson, Greenard (very good for Vikes), Gilmore etc... were all hits in FA.
FA you are going to strike out likely 50% of the time.
That doesn't mean it's not a reasonable way to improve the team.
The bigger the contract the bigger the risk... which is why the Hargave/Allen contracts were smart in that Vikes could get out from under them without huge penalty.
Calculated risks.
Expensive Free Agency is how the Eagles and Rams won their SBs
Expensive doesn’t matter, because you can spend tomorrows money today. What you don’t want to be is expensive and mediocre. If you’re expensive, you should be pushing your chips in to win now.

Those things you mentioned & I'm used to having him as the longtime gatekeeper - Kinda like defending Studwell in his scouting capacity. I appreciate the old guard types, that aren't the "flavor of the month" (like Kwesi). You know these guys are going to act in the best interest of the team because they are more invested than others. Just my take

We may need New York City to finally win ours...
I think this where many discounted the Vikings. People saw us lose three starters on the front seven, without fully appreciating how good Turner would be in a full-time role, and how "mid" Allen and Hargrave were for us last year.
The LDR, TID, Orange and Banks rotation seems every bit as good as the Hargrave, Allen, LDR and TID rotation. But the good thing? The new group is young, raw, improving and only going to get better and better. And I'm not even mentioning the star of the group, Jalen Redmond.

With Citrus, do we resign Redman or does that make him expendable to FA?
My biggest issue with the two vet iDL guys was what was KAM’s plan? Obviously Milton Williams was the FA target and IIRC we made a higher bid than NE.
Both retreads started FA still on rosters. If they didn’t get cut, what was the plan?

Redmond is the #1 re-sign for me, him and Cashman.

I love Redmond. Just think he will demand some money is all. We will have to pay a QB as well. We have the Addison decision too.

He's earned a bag imo - and a rather large one too.

Isnt that always the case? The Brez never gets an off-year. He should have t-shirts printed with that.
I dont know how much the improvement in dead money will help or not? Depends what happens with Harry, TJH, Cashman and AVG.
The Minnesota Vikings have over $35 million in dead money for the 2026 season and a projected dead cap of $12,845,678 for the 2027 season (ranking 5th/6th in the NFL).
Jonathan Allen: ~$12.6 million (partially moved via post-June 1 designation)
Javon Hargrave: ~$10.5 million
Harrison Phillips (trade): ~$3.5 million
Ryan Kelly: ~$3.3 million
Harrison Smith: ~$3.0 million**
Garrett Bradbury: ~$1.6 million
** 2027 Projections: When his short-term contract automatically voids in the 2027 offseason, his remaining unamortized signing bonus and restructure balance will accelerate into $5.56 million in dead money for 2027, rather than the previously projected $7.6 million.
