Impressed with Bartholomew
One of the most athletic tight ends at the Combine…
I don't think you can say enough about the job that Gavin Bartholomew did vs. New Orleans. Adjusts immediately from TE2 to TE1. Played 44 snaps. Had good timing with Murray, found gaps in zones for completions, YAC on a screen and blocked hard the entire day on run and pass

I thought he was a great late round pick since he was an excellent route runner and receiver at PITT. Was someone Addision played with and highly recommended.
He did a great job filling in and it is huge to have another TE who can be an offensive threat. The one deep ball that was thrown to him he seemed like reached awkwardly for it, not sure if it was an overthrow or one a more experienced WR could have gotten.

And he's got a great attitude. Loves playing and is competitive as hell. An athlete's confidence. A team guy.
Some guys just need an opportunity... Gavin and Huber have a chance to earn themselves a starting spot and some money if they can play well as injury replacements.

We are going to have to have Huber step up big. That is a big hole to fill for Jackson the rest of the way. He played well yesterday and lets hope that continues. We should have Darrisaw back after the bye so that should help a lot too.

LIVE WELL ~ LOVE MUCH ~ LAUGH OFTEN
I think Kyler overshot the flea-flicker. He timed it for WR speed and forgot he was throwing to a TE 😜

Lots of stuff getting put on tape for opposing Ds....love it whether it works or not. Keep 'em guessing.

Well, he missed the throw by about that difference lol. Not sure if that was the reason but it sure makes sense.
When he missed his entire rookie year with a back issue I thought we wasted a pick. When he didn’t show up to some of the early OTAs, I thought he was done.
Happy to be dead wrong about that. He didn’t miss a beat.

You and me both. Thought he was a throwaway pick. Happy to be wrong, seeing him perform yesterday.
He was injured in OTA's and it dogged him thru the entire year. vikings couldn't evaluate him.
He had 100 receptions in 4 years at Pitt, that's a shit ton for a college TE. . He reminds of Conklin only a bit bigger.
Don't trade JJ.
I and a few others liked him coming out, just didn't know if he'd pan out. Prototypical size at 6'5", 250 lbs. Team captain in college. Still a bit to go but this is why the team was so patient.
Can't say that I was excited when we drafted him. I thought that that his short arm length (31 1/2 inches) would hamper him in the pros. So far, I like what I'm seeing although I think his ceiling is as a TE2.

Saw that on the Draft profile. Just as a comparison: TJ Hockenson's arms were 32 1/4....a whole whopping 3/4s of an inch, lol. And Gavin's hands are bigger. Draft measurables and the accompanying comments on the profiles can be hilariously goofy. They both ran the same 40 time. Very, very similar athletes believe it or not, composite athletic scores very close.
It was a weird draft pick. I suspected we signed Yurosek before we drafted Bartholomew (this was later confirmed), and then he sits out a year with a back injury that felt like it wasn't disclosed.
But I couldn't be more happy with how he's been playing this year, going back to OTAs. I don't know if he can be TE1, but his play could actually lower the need to take a starting TE in the draft.

Looked good. Don't think there was any drop off, although not sure how his blocking was.
Excellent.
I mean, George Kittle was a 5th round pick. Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews 3rd rounders. You never know. Not saying Bartholomew will be a guy, but he certainly is athletic enough to have some potential.
