Thoughts on the win (not QB related)
Some tidbits I saw rewatching some highlights.
Jalen Redmond was a beast again. How many of the big plays were setup by JR blowing up the play. Getting into the backfield so quick, they tried to hold him several times. Dude is one of our best defenders. And that sez something.
DT was "quiet" in this game. He seemed to be lacking his normal quick release, but I wonder if Flores was using him as a decoy some. His .5 sack actually came when he had dropped into coverage and Mayfield got away from Cashman. He split the sack with Metellus who absolutely blasted Mayfield on that one.
DT and Gink (INT) were in coverage on Bakers last throw as well. Cash and EWill harassing BM and then Redmond with some great hustle that late in the game as well.
Love the grit of our D. On the 6th sack (Cash and EWill), Redmond was doubled. So the two LBs destroyed the RB with Cash getting Mayfield wrapped up. But he was still standing and fighting, so Ewill got up from leveling the RB and leveled Mayfield.
Speaking of RBs getting destroyed, Pace also destroyed one on his way to a sack. Love the intensity our LBs bring when the RB tries to step up. Can't wait to see Gibbs try to block them again.

I think Flores is bringing him along the best way. I think after the bye or by week 10 you should see him being much more involved. Kid is good.

I think he had 15 snaps, 3 pressures, and 1 tackle. Saw the tweet and meant to link it. Regardless, I get a little more stoked with every game under his belt. He’s so far ahead production wise than I anticipated. He’s figuring it out quickly. That DL coach is earning his keep.

Redmond and Banks? Yeah, not sure what is going on but some of the coaches in Minny are amazing. Too bad it was the QB coach.

Beat me to it, PF. I’ve taken Matt Daniels to task frequently. ST seems to have gotten over the penalty issues and now we’re making big plays outside of Will’s leg.

Well that answers those questions about why he isn't playing more. Hope he adjusts and learns the offense.

Listening to Wade Phillips talk about Claiborne, I think they have his head spinning.
Next time they’ll tie a string to Bredeson like they do for vision impaired runners. Man, that was brutal on the second viewing. Jesus, that one gets housed if you watch the downfield blocking. Holy shit.

I jumped up screaming on that play, with his speed that could have been a TD, not going to get a bigger hole than that. I just do not see it with him. Do not see anything he does well, hear about his great speed and here is a chance for him to use it and he not only misses the hole, but it is where the play is designed to go and he takes it outside. I don't think we can keep going with Dallas and Claiborne while Mason is out, way too much on Jones to have to carry the full RB demands. Good example of a draft pick making the team over someone who deserved it more, because he was a draft pick.
I’ll probably rewatch the game tomorrow (defense only).
The dedication to running is paying off even though it’s not been super productive. It shortens the game for the D.
D rotation in the front 7 has been very productive. Guys are being put in positions to do what they do best (see Ivan Pace)
KVN has been outstanding in limited reps. I think the rotation allows the guys to play balls to the walls knowing they’ll be kept plenty fresh.
On the last play, Hitman could have probably had #40 if not for Rodgers.
Speaking of Rodgers, his tackling has been much improved.
Aaron Jones is all heart.
Replayed Donny pancake Vea a dozen times. He’ll probably earn All Pro honors but won’t get it. This year.
With Oliver out, I’m calling Pittsburgh about their 300lb TE. Washington would be the perfect replacement. IIRC, we have 2 TEs on the PS so highly unlikely we do anything. Mercedes Lewis off the street maybe? Stand out blocker.

One other point: I’m signing Nick Mullens off the PS in a heartbeat. Jefferson averages 117 (IIRC) when White Jameis is throwing to him. Oh, hell to the yeah.

Wonder if they’ll use Tiernan in place of Oliver? Might be a good way to ease the rookie in.
Also, not seeing a lot of Frank Smith influence in the run scheme so far.

Would have been a good opportunity to ask for a RB from the Giants in our trade today. They have Skattebo, Najee, Tracy, and Singletary. I'm sure they would have parted with any of those three behind Skattebo.
Tough crowd.
Claiborne has had 3 NFL regular season carries, all against TB…. 3.
TB has NFL’s 2nd best D vs run(ATL is 1)
Most rook RBs tend to bounce outside.
Read early reviews re RJ Harvey, last year.
Let’s not panic yet.
