The deal has a base value of $8 million and can be worth up to $16M with incentives — a compromise to keep a legacy player in the fold. pic.twitter.com/YrnPv3dL39

Happy to hear! I thought he was done two years ago, but damned if he didn't play better the last two years. This will be good for the Vikings and good for the Thomases. Now, is he in shape?

Yes! That’s a lot of brain power added back.

Glad he's back. Last year we missed him badly the first 2 weeks.
He obviously knew he was coming back, but did not want to participate in any of the off season workouts or camp, not a big fan of that strategy. If he was going to play should have gotten himself in camp like everyone else. He is not the same player and do not see him having one week of practice is going to be enough to have him ready. I would have preferred to go with the guys who have been here working all off season.
He never retired. This move and Van Noy will help. Add the youth and depth , this defense is ready to rock.

#Vikings GM Nolan Teasley, HC Kevin O’Connell and DC Brian Flores have been doing “several weeks of recruitment” to Harrison Smith returning, per @RapSheet. It finally paid off 8 days before week 1. pic.twitter.com/pVipZcnErZ

At the end of last season, there were definitely people inside the Vikings organization who thought Harrison Smith was retiring. They threw him an elaborate sendoff in Week 17. But he never announced his retirement, and the Vikings absolutely need him.https://t.co/o2SrcdPWDs
