Lets just name every starter on offense and defense captains. That is just dumb and naming that many just takes away from the honor of team captain.

I’m guessing the gold C has some significance.

Gink got one this year.

So what's the difference between a gold C and a white C?

So what's the difference between a gold C and a white C?

  • Yellow/gold “C” — traditionally indicates a team captain selected by the players/coaches for that season.

  • White “C” — can indicate a player who is serving as a game-day captain or a captain for a particular season/role, depending on the uniform/patch configuration.

  • White/silver C with purple stars = captain for 1–4 years

  • Gold C with gold stars = player has been a captain for 5+ years

  • The number of stars represents how many years the player has been named captain.

It means that a player has been chosen to be a Captain of a team for five or more years. Or at least that is what I always thought it meant.
