Can I politely ask the powers that be of this board why Post Likes are public and Post Dislikes are anonymous ๐Ÿ˜‚

I just noticed it's set up this way-- maybe it always has been-- but this seems kind've extremely sawft, no?

Posts dislikes or dissenting opinions =/= attacks upon one's honor. I think most here understand this and could handle full transparency on the likes and reactions. Jmo

This is a question for @Mike Olson or possibly @JimmyinSD.

Seems I remember some discussion on this when the site was being built, but I am not sure.

@pattersaurย

Well, I just got a notification that a member disliked one of my posts. So, even though it doesn't show the name publicly in the post, you should get a notification stating that "(member's name) disliked your post in (thread's name)"

My point of view on the "Dislike" is this:

Just because a person dislikes your post, doesn't necessarily mean it's against you. It could be that they don't like the content/info in the post. There's been several posts that I didn't like/agree with, not because of the person, but because of the info. (Due to total BS or some new NFL rule, etc)

Example: If someone posted that the NFL was going to start playing 7 days a week, I would not like that. However, if I "Disliked" that post, the person may take it as being against them & not realize that my dislike was about playing 7 days a week. Therefore, I don't click on the "Dislike".

I really don't think anyone here actually gets butt-hurt over it, but you never know. ๐Ÿ˜Š

You are quite correct, as usual.

Funny, this thread probably has the most dislikes I have ever seen on the site. Probably the most reactions overall since most people seem to ignore the like and dislike reactions.

I dont see a lot of good that would come from public disclosure of dislikes...As long as the poster getting the dislike is notified privately?

I think that's plenty.

Just my own take....I got no dog in this one.

Well, due to the topic at hand, I'm thinking that someone is just trying to be funny by disliking all/most of the posts. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I agree, the "dislike" can be for any number of reasons, so I tend to avoid it. Conversely, a "like" can be for various reasons, too. But A "like" is positive, so it is always good.

Just to be clear, I have used the dislike in this thread as a joke.

But I wonder if it affects the rep negatively? Inquiring minds.

As I mentioned earlier, I figured that was the case for all the dislikes in this thread. ๐Ÿ˜Š

If what you're wondering is true, boy, am I in trouble now! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Maybe it goes both ways & someone who "Dislikes" excessively, is labeled as a troublemaker. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Maybe need to check with @Mike Olsonย or @JimmyinSDย about that.

I mean...I only disliked it because I thought it was funny. I could care less.

The good news, is with the flock camera network. We can now track that person down and let the swim with the fishes.

I tried to post this once already. I have no personal preference about like / dislike visibility. I'm sure that on this board I would have many disliking a lot of my posts and I would be totally okay with that given the political bias on this site. What has happened on another higher membership football board I'm on with that functionality is groups of posters that just spam downvote certain posters every time they post trying to belittle every single post they do. I'm not a part of either group and there are zero politics allowed, so that isn't the driver. I can't really see people letting it get out of control on here, as it's an older board, but that is the biggest downside I've witnessed to making that functionality there for all to see.

if you dont post political slanted posts... then nobody would know you bias and dislike your stuff based on that unknown.

there was absolutely zero discussion in if somebody should be kept anonymous over their likes or dislikes.... i cant believe this topic has gotten this much discussion on a FOOTBALL board 2 weeks before the new season kicks off... doesnt anyone have a fresh hot take on JJM and his future?

Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

The predictor on Purple Daily yesterday predicted that J.J. McCarthy would win his first playoff game before Kevin O'Connell would. McCarthy as the starting QB elsewhere I presume, or KOC selling insurance instead.
