Nice Stadium Planning Raiders...
Two years away from hosting Super Bowl 63, the Las Vegas Raiders are seeking financial assistance to make upgrades to Allegiant Stadium.
The Las Vegas Stadium Authority is meeting on Thursday to vote on the Raiders' request for $75 million to help fund a $158 million project that would create a new "front door" to the stadium's north entrance, according to a release.
The "front door" upgrades would include a pedestrian deck, public plaza, event deck and transportation improvements.
The $75 million would come from an existing taxpayer fund allocated specifically for Allegiant Stadium-related improvements. The remaining $83 million would come from private funding.
Allegiant Stadium is tied with SoFi Stadium for the second-youngest active NFL stadium, behind only Highmark Stadium in Buffalo that is opening this year.
The Raiders' stadium opened in 2020 and cost $1.9 billion, making it the second-most expensive stadium construction project in the NFL behind SoFi.
Over the past six years, Allegiant Stadium has hosted several high-profile sporting events, including three Pac-12 Championship Games (2021-23) and Super Bowl 58 between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.
The NFL announced in March that Allegiant Stadium would host its second Super Bowl at the end of the 2028 season. Super Bowl 63 will take place on Feb. 11, 2029.

I see Cleveland's new stadium is also going to be enclosed. Smart. Another outdoor team a few months ago also mentioned their new stadium would also be domed, can't remember which one.....

Thanks for ChapGPT'ing it, I know some fans don't like it, but I think that number is dwindling. Its mostly because they want these stadiums to be functional for other revenue sources in the late Fall/winter/early Spring for like concerts, dirtbike races, etc. I'm all for it. Let's take weather out of the game.....and by that I mean super cold, super snowy, etc. that kind of shit. Also the occasional deluge which changed the whole dynamic of the game. The new roofs make it seem like you are outside anyway.

I'm coming around to it and the costs of these venues dictate year-round functionality as you call out...
But there is still some old skule in me that loves a game in winter at old 3 rivers or foxsboro..F'ck that for MN btw.
Been there done that

Building a venue of this scale to be used less than a dozen times a year just doesn't pencil.
Back sometime last century when I was in charge of summer concerts for a certain Colorado ski resort, we were always faced with the weather issue and whether it was worthwhile buying rain insurance.
It's just not worth it if you are trying to create a facility that can be used 52 weeks a year.
Enclosed is the only way it pencils long term.
Please God, just one Lombardi before I die.
They built this thing 5 mins ago, how does it already need $158m spent on it? https://t.co/aWDKutUjxD
