Posting This Against My Will

I’ve posted similar sentiments and everyone on the board was overjoyed to discuss the opportunity. 😂
Only thing that keeps the team away from that is if Kyler Murray plays lights out to the point where they’d like to give him a three or four year contract.Otherwise… I expect Teasley to want to dip his toe in this.
I am simply not ready for this conversation.
No sir.
Can not.
Moore is up to 220 and that’s all I’m saying on the subject.

I hope the offense doesnt play like ass this year...
If K1 doesnt ring the bell and/or JJM doesnt show-out with whatever chances he may get?
I can absolutely see NT going this route. I can see them going this route even if K1 does play well and signs an extension. They'll want a young QB they can take their time grooming. Brosmer isnt that guy.
All bets off if JJM starts to ball-out.
Edit: Apologies to JIT
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

I think even if Kyler has a great year and the Vikings sign him long term, they'd still be well advised taking a QB in the draft. Maybe not a 1st rounder, but maybe a day-two guy. I think you should always have a developmental guy and if that's not going to be McCarthy or Brosmer, it's time to get one.

Yeah, should have qualified my post as meaning early in the Draft. It won't be as big a priority. Always need the next developmental guy. But I guess you could also still pull the trigger if you truly want to give someone the Jordan Love treatment.
With a new GM and a good chance that none of the QBs on the roster will standout as a franchise QB this year, I think it is likely that we are potentially drafting a QB next year or signing one. Murray would need a Darnold like resurgence for that not to happen and for us to be willing to invest the future on him.
If it goes well this year I expect they'll sign Kyler to a deal, but I think it very likely that Nolan will draft a developmental guy in the 27 draft. JJ will be gone.
If it turns south I'd say it's wide open. I could see him chasing a top QB prospect, I could see KOC being shown the door. It's not what I expect but you never know how things will play out in this league.

Minnesota Vikings
Current starter: Kyler Murray
Signed through: 2026
If you're the kind of person who reads articles like this, you probably don't need too much of a refresher on the Vikings' quarterback situation. After 2024 first-round pick J.J. McCarthyflopped in his first year as a starter, the Vikings brought in Murray, who was cut by the Cardinals. Because Arizona owed Murray about $37 million in guaranteed money, Minnesota signed him for a one-year, league-minimum contract. Murray's agent did, however, negotiate a clause into the deal that prohibits the Vikings from using the franchise or transition tag on Murray next offseason. So, if he plays well and the Vikings want to keep him around, they're going to have to fight off other teams to do it.
McCarthy, meanwhile, is signed through 2027. The team holds an option for 2028, but unless McCarthy finds his way into enough games and plays well in them in 2026, it's hard to see on what basis they could pick that up. The team also brought back veteran Carson Wentz, who could be a candidate to back up Murray depending on what McCarthy is showing in practice. But Wentz is signed through only 2026.
After this year, Minnesota's QB situation looks completely wide open.
Most likely outcome: As with every quarterback other than McCarthy who has played for Kevin O'Connell in Minnesota, Murray plays well and has the Vikings in playoff contention. Haunted by the memory of what happened after they let Sam Darnoldleave as a free agent following the 2024 season, the Vikings make a strong push to re-sign Murray to a long-term deal ahead of his free agency.
Long-shot outcome: Murray gets hurt and/or struggles. McCarthy steps in to replace him, and a light goes on. McCarthy plays the way the Vikings hoped he would when they drafted him, and Minnesota picks up his fifth-year option and confidently anoints him the starter for 2027.
