NFL Radio Booths
From an earlier discussion today, I really like Paul Allen. His main criticism is that he likes the home team a little too much, and I suspect for a couple of the controversies he's been involved in that left a lasting mark. I loved Harry Caray precisely because he was such a homer, with a distinctive voice, that wasn't afraid to say what he thought. It's the same thing I love about Paul Allen.
Ive tried over the years...I just cant warm to the guy and wont listen to him any more.
Its like that for me with Mike Max on CCO sports tv. Just rubs me the wrong way.

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

There's always a certain portion of a fan base that won't like a guy. I don't like Boog Sciambi for the Cubs because he isn't enough of a homer. I trust your reasons for not liking him are genuine. I just think he's generally well-liked by the fan base overall.
Not a radio announcer, but I tire with the radio broadcasters on kfan that come from other cities, probably aren't fans of sports, and are generally trying to be more controversial than supportive of your fandom

He's horrible. Cringey schtick. He's a horse racing announcer. Might be time for the glue factory for ol' PA. Some fans would listen to Gilbert Gottfried as Viking's announcer if he were homer enough.
If you want to listen to a guy that’s very professional and yet is homer to his home team, it’s the Kansas City Chiefs announcer. He’s exceptional. You don't have to be a screaming clown to be a homer and professionalism makes the difference.

Well, obviously most don’t agree with you. Like I said, some people don’t like him because of various reasons. I guess you’re just one of them because most like his calls. A lot of people think his big play calls are the best in the league. I tend to agree and his pbp is as good as most. Maybe not the Vin Scully of the NFL, but his professionalism is just fine.

Yeah they need to shake up the KFAN radio guys. You have Dan "The Common Man" who's voice reminds me of a big dope and he's a Lions fan... then you have Dan Barriero who is a Bears fan. He's our local version of Skip Bayless. Best thing about his show is/was Gerby call ins during the season. Not sure if they are still doing that bit. Kinda crazy a MN sports station doesn't have all Vikings fans as their radio hosts...

I agree that most of the hosts on KFAN are borderline horrendous from a sports perspective.
