The Vikings might feel OK going into the season with a combination of Golday and Ingram-Dawkins at OLB3, but you have to wonder if that isn't cutting it by mid-season, they might be in the market for an edge at the trade deadline, depending on what the Vikings and a few other teams look like at that point. Doubt they give up major draft capital or pay big $$ for one of these guys.

IMO, they like the versatility and uniqueness of TID, but if Batty or the others don't show enough, they find someone after cutdown day.

You could land Thib for a 3. Maybe the Eagles 3.

Depends on whether the Vikings are in a position to "go for it" or not.

The advantage of waiting until the trade deadline is that the players are better. And the Vikings would have a better idea of what this team is capable of. For example, If the Vikings are .500, they'd likely stand pat. But if they're 6-2 or better, they could steal a real difference maker from a team that isn't going anywhere. It's what the Rams did when they traded for Jalen Ramsey at the trade deadline and went to the Super Bowl.

Yes, but having 3 expensive starter level guys at OLb seems a bit much IMO.

I don't think they will make a move as I think they are planning to use Golday at edge more than they are letting on. Such a similar skill set to Van Ginkel and a great fit for the role, they also need to find a way to get their best players on the field and with Cashman, Wilson and Pace at ILB, he is not going to get a lot of reps there.

It's true depth matters. IMO the author left out some relevant points

Adams set the NFL record for sacks by secondary player in 2022 with Seattle 9.5

Eric Wilson led NFL with sacks by ILB last year 6.5

Cashman had 4.5 sacks in 2024

Batty and TID are both over 6'6 270lbs with size like that they'll crash, hard.

There's 18-19 players that will be getting defensive snaps. Flores has depth going for him and will exploit that to his advantage

Pressure will come from everywhere.

My prediction in the last draft was Keldric Faulk, Auburn, DT/DE, 6’5” 275.

Caveat to that pick was, that Banks would be pick if no lingering foot issues. Of course we took Banks.

TID/Batty will hold down the “3rd” edge quite well, imo.

I’m predicting solid contributions from both this year, & not thinking we need to add another veteran edge.

Only 23, coming into his grown-man strength, even if he’s slimmed down this year.

I agree on Forness’ take that TID/Batty are aces-up BFlo’s sleeves, but disagree on his angst we have to add another edge vet.

Would rather have another solid CB.

I mentioned this before but I think BFlo wants to see guys like TID and Batty before going to Teasley about adding a vet. Those guys know his defense and strategy. You can always sign someone in September if need be and especially after final roster cutdowns.
