I listened to it. Most of the segment was humorous and fluffy and coach speak. Pretty friendly interview. Didn’t really say anything we haven’t already heard. Only concrete thing he really said, was the quote above, which was in the context of him saying that he’s gone though something like 8 starting QBs in 4 years, and that the two years he got a full season out of his QB the team had 13 and 14 wins, and that he wants to get back to having the QB be a key contributor to the wins. A couple times near the end DP joked with him about Kyler being the default starter as if he was trying to evoke a reaction out of KOC which would be a tell, and KOC was stoic and non-reactionary. I think with it being coach-speak, you can still interpret KOC’s comments however you feel matches your thoughts, but I think the idea that any of JJM, Kyler or Wentz being traded seems to go counter of everything KOC’s been saying all offseason.

Man, poor KOC and the team injuries: its been CRAZY. If anyone deserves a little break from that crap its O'Connell. He's like, please for the love of God, just give me a capable and healthy QB for a whole damn season and watch me cook! 😤

Seems he's trying to improve the overall level of QB play through competition as much as finding a starter with that statement. I think the starter has already been selected!

I don’t think that any realistic person could look at our room and feel confident that KOC should bet his career on any one QB being healthy all season.

I don’t think his comments are solely a statement about the starter, as they are also very much about feeling confident that the QB Room can survive injuries.

Regarding competition, I think it's good for both guys.

Agreed. That's what he's referring to.

Snake bit at QB + OL

What the hell can you do other than hope for the best and plan for the worst with some depth.

But thats hard to come by, especially with poor drafting.

And hell, any OL you could pick-up is going to be a big drop off from a Darrisaw or O'Neil.

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

What is amazing is in his 4 years here, the two years he did have his QB healthy for the year, they went 13-4 and 14-3. It has been every other year, so we are due for a healthy QB this year.

Goes back to you can’t make the team in the tub. A lot of what KOC is referring to is the roller coaster season JJ had. Then add in injuries. I think KOC is challenging JJ to the fullest extent. Maybe the kid will get it, maybe he won’t. Problem is, Murray has the injury problem. Idk. I’m guessing it’s Murray anyways. But it sure seems like he isn’t giving up on JJ. I read awhile back that Harbaugh said, you tell the kid he can’t do something and watch him do it.

It’s what it is this year. For JJs future, I think you rollout Murray to start. Then let JJ come in if things go south or injury. Versus the other way around, which would only hurt JJ. Unless JJ just straight beats him. Only way that would happen IMO is if he still doesn’t understand the playbook come camp.
