OT: FIFA rescinds U.S. striker Flo Balogun’s suspension
Report: FIFA rescinds U.S. striker Flo Balogun’s one-game suspension
The United States got a belated 250th birthday gift from FIFA. And it’s way better than some phony-baloney peace prize.
According to The Athletic, FIFA has rescinded the one-game suspension that attached to the red card U.S. striker Folarin Balogun received on Wednesday night in a win over Bosnia and Herzegovina. He’s now available for the Round of 16 game against Belgium, to be played on Monday night in Seattle.
The details aren’t clear as to why the supposedly automatic suspension was lifted. It was supposedly final, as of Friday.
Frankly, there’s seems to be enough play in the joints of the FIFA rules to allow for the exercise of discretion. Which is a fancy way of saying “make it up as we go.”
In this case, the exercise of discretion has put the U.S. in position to have one of its best players available for one of the biggest games the program has ever played.
Whatever the linguistic niceties and chapter-and-verse mumbo-jumbo, it feels like the right outcome. The red card seemed unwarranted in the first place. The fair compromise, since there’s no way to let Balogun go back and finish the game, is to suspend the suspension that went with it.
LIVE WELL ~ LOVE MUCH ~ LAUGH OFTEN
We were never winning this game. We were severely outmatched. To even insert a joke about "if he didn't insert himself, we may have had a shot" is the absolute most laughable comment about the whole situation.

Contrary to the hype and hyperbole masters like Colin Cowherd, Pat McAfee, etc. this USA squad was NOT going to come close to winning the Cup. Tim Howard said it was 'impossible' for the USA to win a few days ago and that was obviously correct....and anyone that knows soccer to any extent understood that. Its always just a fun time for the very very casual U.S. soccer fan to hop on the bandwagon and for the media to do so as well.
Preach!

I cannot stop laughing about this clip...freaking hilarious. That said, maybe the one who created this video is on to something...I think I'd watch that sport. It's like handball, basketball, rugby, and soccer in one. haha. I think you need the likes of Terry Crews, Jack Tatum, or Brian Dawkins who are coming out of the screen launching missile tackles and Mean Joe Greene and Jack Lambert wrapping up and doing the close line/arm tackles.
