Ed Ingram not a Viking's fan
Ex-Vikings OL Ed Ingram had the following to say about his situation:
"After three forgettable seasons in Minnesota, wherein he lost his starting gig, the former second-round pick was shipped to the Texans last offseason. He enjoyed his best season, allowing a career-low 6.4% pressure rate. He credited offensive line coach Cole Popovich with his improved play."
"What better place for them to be than Houston?" Ingram told Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston. "I came here, I excelled. Shout out to Cole Popovich. He never let me get complacent, and he always challenged me. Personally, I've always thought I'm a great player. All I need is the right person to help me. Coming here was probably the best thing to ever happen to me in my career, coming here and having a coach.
"Pretty much take me under his wing and kind of hone in my skills, because the skills were there. It just needed to be honed in and just controlled a little bit. It has helped me out tremendously."
He definitely flourished with new coaching. Signed something like a top 10 contract for guards.

...and he's a hell of an athletic guard. Strong. Just 27 years old, he'll play there another 5 years. Shows what can happen with the right coaching and a change of scenery for a talented player...*cough*....

But seriously, coaching matters even at the highest levels. Hopefully K1 gets further unlocked and Brez has his hands full next offseason.

Phil Rauscher and Chris Kuper were trash OL coaches. I'm really hoping Keith Carter can get these guys playing violent. You know Jackson has that dog in him. Unleash the beast.

I think a lot of Viking fans were suspicious of the OL coaching and wondering if it was an issue over the years?
I think it absolutely was, along with some bad drafting and just plain bad injury luck too.

Yes, that is one of the things I am looking forward to the most for this season. Will be hard to measure, but I sure hope the O-line takes a big step forward.
Can't look back, all we can do is move forward. I like a healthy D-Saw, Jackson, Brandel, Big Willy Fry and Brian Shamus O'Neill to lead the way this year with more aggression baked in.
It’s been a while since we’ve had something reminiscent of guys over-achieving their potential, and having an injured guy get replaced and the backup performs competently.
Hopefully we’ll get back to those days sooner than later.
He truly found his way in Houston; he's much better. But Darrisaw had the same coaches. Just saying, it sounds like his statements lack a little personal responsibility. Glad he's in Houston.

Darrisaw is elite. I think he is going to do well no matter what. I think some guys (like Ed) need decent coaching to bring out that talent at the NFL level. Our line has been subpar for quite awhile with lots of different pieces. Especially the interior. That has to be part coaching.

I read into it that Popovich motivated him, being complacent is an attitude problem and he seems to own that and his new coach was able to him.

Ingram tied for 3rd in sacks in 2022 when he stepped on cousins foot immediately after snap 3 or 4? times that was on Ingram.
Part of it was coaching and part of it was Ingram, he didn't play well in Minnesota.
I don't think Kuper was a good Oline coach, I can't square why the Eagles hired him as their Oline coach this year when he wasn't retained in Minnesota
