Well, the USA left some goals on the pitch, but are moving on to the field of 32. 👍🤘

Not trying to be a downer, but they were in a very weak group. Sledding gets MUCH tougher now.

Isn't this pretty much just a rip off of the Icelanders cheer that the Vikings ripped off for the Skol chant?

Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

futbol @ 5 billion fans to football at 400 million fans ( but gaining, right Rog?) yeah I dont think anybody is confused on what the preferred global athletic competition is.
however in the the good ol US of A... Football is still the king with a 4 to 1 advantage over Soccer. ( it supposedly has overtaken baseball as the #3 most popular sport, with basketball holding the #2 spot) I kind of doubt that is based on game attendance or tv viewers, but it was what AI came back with.
all I know is that our area has gone all in on a new JR hockey league team the last couple years, no talk about soccer or futbol at all.

America represents 4% of the world's population. I think Roger Goodell's vision is that the NFL expands around the globe to a fraction of the degree soccer has. The potential revenue is staggering at just 10% market penetration. But it will never get to the level soccer has, and I'm sure he knows that. One of the reasons soccer is so big in underdeveloped countries is because it's so cheap. Any 8 year old in Zimbabwe can find a ball and a makeshift goal and train to be the next Pele. There are no equipment needs or size issues like there is with American football.

Sorry to offend, I was referring to cheers at sporting events, not attacking our beloved homeland country.

You're not offending me. That's pretty hard to do.

I just think it's a little odd to call a USA chant stale when we're talking about international competition. That's kind of the point. You're there representing your country and cheering for your country.

Could there be more creative chants? Sure. But with Team USA hockey winning Olympic gold, the World Cup in the U.S. in over 30 years, and the men's team playing well, it feels like a strange time to be rolling our eyes at a USA chant.

It appears I might be in the minority here, but hearing an entire stadium belt out "USA" will never get old to me.

I was referring to conversations I have had with Europeans, primarily English, Irish, Scots and Germans. The Brits have multiple national teams teams in the UK. Germans have actively backed away from displays of nationalism since WW2. IMO that has been changing in the last decade. Do what feels good and right for you, but one should be able to entertain another opinion without having to accept it. I'm proud to be American, just maybe not so much pride of all things Americans do, big difference.
