Still quite a few out there, including Clowney. But I wonder if the Vikings might be waiting to see what they have in Golday and/or Ingram-Dawkins before throwing money at a vet.

Wouldn't think Jordan as a fit at OLB.

Vikings sign TE Marshall Lang, DL Jahvaree Ritzie

Story by Josh Alper

1 min read

The Vikings did some roster shuffling on Tuesday.

They announced that they have signed tight end Marshall Lang and defensive lineman Jahvaree Ritzie. The two players are joining the team at the end of the offseason program and will have more work to look forward to at this summer's training camp.

Lang went undrafted last year and spent time on practice squads in New England and Seattle during the season. He had 48 catches for 491 yards and four touchdowns while at Northwestern.

Ritzie was also an undrafted rookie who spent time with the Patriots in 2025. He signed with the Steelers in January and was waived last month. He had 6.5 sacks during his final season at North Carolina.

The Vikings waived offensive tackle Caleb Etienne and defensive lineman Monkell Goodwine in corresponding moves.

Not hand in glove but…

The Shift under Brandon Staley (3-4 Alignment) [1]

When defensive coordinator Brandon Staley implemented the 3-4 system, it created a unique transition for Jordan: [1, 2, 3]

  • Moving Out of the Interior: In previous years, Jordan was occasionally asked to kick inside to defensive tackle in certain packages, a role he openly disliked. [1]

  • Back to the Edge: Under Staley, Jordan was kept strictly on the perimeter. Depending on the package, this meant playing as a 5-technique defensive end (on the outside shoulder of the offensive tackle) or standing up as an outside pass-rushing linebacker. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

This perimeter focus paid off massively. Even at 36 years old, returning to his preferred home on the edge allowed him to log a team-leading 10.5 sacks. His continued elite play led the Saints to re-sign their all-time sack leader to a new contract extension. [1, 2, 3, 4]

He's a loser anyway, so no real loss there. Not the guy we needed in the locker room.

If you're going for older guys, I'd prefer guys like:

  • Kyle Van Noy

  • Von Miller

  • Leonard Floyd

Signing a 1 year rental fills the need short term. After the season ya still have to draft someone.

I'd rather the Vikings trade for an edge that has the possibility of being here long term.

Said this before, but I'd call Panthers and inquire about Patrick Jones. Panthers drafted and signed 2 Edges he might be odd man out. Flores and co.. would know what they're getting ,and he's affordable.

He played pretty well in the Flores D as I remember, played himself into a nice contract.

How do you feel about Clowney or Bosa?

Von Miller now comes with his own wheelchair btw. 😄

Haha.

I'd be ok with Clowney at the right price, but I don't like that he's playing less than 40% of snaps and I don't really see him as a strong leader. Bosa would be too high of a price tag for a guy who is often injured.

Clowney would be about $5M - $7M/year and it would have to be heavy incentives IMO because he doesn't play a ton of snaps

Bosa would be about $13M - $14M/year - you cannot deny the guy's motor

Von Miller would be about $5M - $7M/year and while he's ancient and also played less than 40% of the snaps, he still is effective and IMO, a pretty strong leader

Leonard Floyd would be about $6M - $8M/year coming off of a down year, so maybe even cheaper?

Kyle Van Noy would be about $4M - $6M/year just makes plays, reliable, even in coverage, and a strong leader

I really wanted A.J. Epenesa as he is solid depth and he would have come cheap, but the Eagles scooped him up.
