Jesus, an article online with insightfulness and solid thoughts backing up his opinions with comparisons.....a unicorn article for sure. A salute for Matt Waldman 🫡

I will say however that the James Cook comparison, although low level exciting, still belies the fact he was selected in the 2nd round. So the Bills saw past some of the explosive metrics on him that where negative. Its stuck in my craw that he was selected so late in the Draft (Claiborne), there has to be other factors. I want to buy into the optimism and potential, but I don't know.....have to see it first I guess.

Matt Waldman is great. He only does offensive skill positions, but he knows what he's talking about. Looking forward to watching Claiborne in the preseason. He should get plenty of work.

His changes of direction are notably quick because he’s skilled at playing with pacing. He presses slow and deep before entering the crease with breathtaking suddenness.

Talk dirty to me.

A nice palate cleanser.

Demond's speed is special. Lets just call it what it is. How does it fit in the big picture. Is he a practice team player that effectively washes out because he cannot be special teams player or find his niche as a #3 running back - Does he start as practice team or #3 running back role and find his niche, or does he grow his skills and become more of a #1 or #2 running back. My personal opinion is he has a high chance of wash out - but running back is a position that has a higher probability of hitting as a late round pick.

There are 2 major concerns for me. 1 is durability. How is he going to be able to hold up to a full season with NFL players when he struggled and could not get through full seasons at the college level. The second is his balance and whether he can maintain balance during contact and effectively break a tackle. Somewhat a yards after contact. In college when Claiborne was hit he tended to go down. Effectively the exact opposite Emmett Johnson. Johnson's didn't have great numbers at the combine, but he constantly would keep his balance after being hit and break multiple tackles and had a lot of yards after contact.

In either case Claiborne is a lottery ticket. Maybe the Vikings are able to unlock something, or Claiborne begins to bulk up a bit and transform some without sacrificing his elite speed. We will see. The 2 drills I saw I though Claiborne looked a bit stiff and mechanical - but thats just my armchair opinion.

40-Yard Dash

4.37

Seconds

Jones and mason don't have that gear, Using Claiborne to press the edge is something this offense needs, desperately.
