I think it is mainly how his insertion into actual game time happened. I think he could have benefitted from more time learning the NFL and the position. I think he could still benefit from it. But he was brought onto the field way too soon and I think peolple expected more than what he had to offer.

People just want Peyton Manning. Plain, boring, good. If you're going to be weird, you have to be good before being weird is allowed, and even that didn't work for Rodgers. They don't want the kid that paints his nails. They don't want the mayo kid. They don't want someone who wears stupid hats. If Brady didn't hit the ground running and just started out with Gweneth Paltrow health beliefs, he'd have been roasted as well.
