Eliminate a preseason game and add a bye. Maybe add another roster spot too.

I wasn't a fan of 17 as it just dilutes all the accomplishments of all past players. There is no asterisk for the extra game and records being broken which is just dumb. And now add another game? These players cant even make it through half a season without getting hurt so it totally makes send to keep adding more games so by the time the PO's and SB come around 50% of your team is on the IR.

Makes the NFL more about just surviving the 18 games so you have some sort of roster come the PO's if you make it vs everyone going out every game for the W with only 16 games.

Basically this is a cash grab and opens up more games to played Internationally. Which all the owners want and Roger too. More $$$

Totally a cash grab

I also dont like uneven # of games so at least this rectifies that issue.

NFLPA - where are you?

What is driving this is the international games. Once they go to 18 most likely they will have every team play one game internationally every season. The Christmas games, the streaming to all services - so incredibly greedy.

Not giving a crap and cashing paychecks.

That's the sad part, nobody cares about what's in the best interest of the game itself anymore or putting the best quality product on the field. What's next? 20 game schedule with zero preseason games? The league is becoming a battle of attrition and continuing to add more games to the schedule in a high contact sport with injury problems already, is just stupidity. Owners dont care, the commissioner doesn't care, and the NFLPA doesn't care as long as the money keeps rolling in. Us as fans care when there are shitty Thursday night games every week and the key injuries continue to mount. They should of left it as is. 16 game season, a select number of preseason games (which are important), the elimination of Thursday football except for Thanksgiving, and nobody, not the players or the fans want to see their teams play "home" regular season games in Brazil, Pakistan, Japan, or anywhere else except their home stadiums. Limit the amount of overseas games

Throwing in the high cost of paying for the games which are all streaming now. That kind of money you could make a house payment or luxury car payment. It's outrageously out of control.

They have to get the NFLPA to agree. From what I've read that won't be easy. But otherwise I guess, get ready for the Super Bowl in mid March lol.

Ha!

Truth...

Rosters will have to expand and 2 bye weeks need to be introduced into the season imo.

Yes, the game will be diluted and the SB will be in March.

I’m game for two byes. That way you can do these ridiculous international games and use a bye with it. Or Thursday night games can come off a bye instead of screwing the road team.

As much as I'd love more games to watch, the law of diminishing returns is a big factor when almost half the starting QBs are hurt or softbenched because their team is tanking. An extra game per team isn't the end of the world, but it doesn't feel very necessary. Heck if they got rid of the extra game they ALREADY added, would any fans be upset? Not likely, unless said fan also owns a team or is profiting some how.

i dont agree with it either, but of those bitching.... who is saying they are done with the NFL?

its like when people bitch about how much pro athletes make, i simply ask if they watch the games, when they say yes, then I say "its your fault they are making so much money playing a game, if people didnt watch the games, the advertisers wouldnt spend so much, and then the networks wouldnt be willing to pay so much to the league for broadcast rights."

Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

I don't get any entertainment value from the NFL like I did when I was young. I am just here to witness a team breaking unbelievable odds of not getting to the Superbowl in 50 years and counting.

The NFL is #1......and #2 is in another zip code. Hey, lets bitch less and enjoy more. Who cares? Are we actually complaining about more football? Do we have some vested interest in its purity and sanctity, lol? Nope. They're whores for the money, but they've always been. Nothing new. And to your point: I'm watching it, baby! They used to play on painted cement with ice cream sundae plastic helmets with one bar and on your 15th concussion you got a gift certificate to Ace Hardware. Its a better product now.

Enjoy it. And pssst: we aren't the target demo anymore, you old bastards! 😆

Here is my proposal.

  1. Expand the roster

  2. Allow everyone to suit up on game day

  3. Veteran exemptions. Example Harrison Smith being 37 and 14 years in the league could play on the team. His salary wouldn't go against the cap and His roster spot wouldn't count on the 53. This was he can contribute but not playing 18 games. Also saves the roster spot.

  4. QB's don't count against the salary cap.

  5. Extend the season more. Maybe 3 byes. Or if you play Thursday you don't play the Sunday before. If you play international (hate) you don't play the following week.

  6. Super Bowl ON A SATURDAY!!!!
