Think about the FA moves in totality. The cap space in 27. Getting above market for Greenard. Most promising draft in a long time.

Well done, Brez. Well done.

Glad they could wait until after the draft and not cancel out our '27 comp pick.

Patience, indeed. Brez needed to dig us out of a hole AND help the team. If he hits on this Draft.....

I agree with this, other than the Greenard haul. While I appreciate bering able to get something for Greenard, rather than letting him walk next year, he's worth more than two 3rd round picks, no matter if one of them happens to be 2027 in which the draft is projected to be loaded with talent. We should have been able to get a 2nd rounder in that packaged deal.

Brez was patient in FA, which is not easy for many fans, but it proved to pay off with Jennings for sure and we may have possibly got our Sexy Dexy for far cheapers. 😀

Who was offering the 2nd round pick that Brez turned down? I keep seeing this statement made like there was something better out there.

People sometimes forget that the market is limited to a maximum of 31 potential trade partners. It's not like I can sell my product to thousands of businesses...that's pretty darn limited. And if the offers weren't there, you cannot force it.

Please God, just one Lombardi before I die.

The $100M contract rendered the 2nd rounder a pipe dream. I'm a little surprised we got the second 3rd.

I’m not saying there was a 2nd round pick sitting on the table that Brez turned down. My point is simply that calling this “above market value” for Greenard feels like a stretch.

IMO, Greenard was worth more than two 3rds. A 2026 2nd and a 2027 3rd would’ve felt much more in line with the market for impact pass rushers.

That’s based on comparable value around the league. Dexter Lawrence commanded top 10 pick while making around $28M/one year. Maxx Crosby was reportedly tied to two 1st round picks before the physical issue and is now making over $35M/year. Even Osa Odighizuwa brought back a 3rd while making around $20M/year.

Greenard isn’t Crosby, but he’s absolutely a difference-maker off the edge, and those guys are premium assets in today’s NFL.

Do I understand contract, market limitations, leverage, and timing all factor in? Absolutely. And I still like Turner long-term and think he’ll help soften the blow. I’m just saying the return itself didn’t scream “home run” to me. However, it's definitely better than letting him walk without receiving anything in return.

that was my point, you and others can say below market value, but since we can all assume that he was marketed to the entire league ( save for maybe division rivals) and logic suggests that Brez took the best offer, he wasnt just dealing with the iggles.... then no, he was not traded below market, the market dictated his value based on his contract demands, his age, his past production, and likely more things than we will ever know and it said he was worth exactly what we got for him.

I think “being patient” is another way to phrase “Bargain bin shopping”, but it’s still nice that it worked out and sometimes its better to be lucky than good.  That said, I don’t think we were ever looking for a WR3 that was going to command a multi-year deal given that we’re going to resign Addison, so first wave of FA was probably off the table.

Regarding Greenard.  I think that’s an L unless the safety balls out.  Getting what’s basically two 4ths and some 2027 cap space in exchange for your best defender is hardly a win after we have to pay a lesser edge to round out the room.  The edge we’ll have to bring in is going to cost more than amount it would have cost to just pay Greenard, and ignoring the “pound sand” option.

The most likely scenario is that the 2026 Vikings will be less talented outside of the QB position than the 2025 Vikings.  It might all work out, but we’re downgrading talent and hoping that rookies make up the difference.

This is the most confusing off-season.

I understand your point, but I think you’re blending “market value” with “best available offer at the time.”

Yes, the market ultimately determines what a player is traded for in reality. I’m not arguing that. I’m saying I personally believe Greenard’s talent and impact are worth more than what the market happened to yield in that moment.

Those aren’t the same thing.

There are plenty of examples in sports where teams sell low because of leverage, timing, contracts, age curves, cap constraints, limited bidders, or urgency. That doesn’t suddenly mean the player’s actual impact magically equals the return.

So yes, technically the market said “two 3rds.” I just happen to think the market undervalued a premier edge player entering his prime who consistently changes games.

Huge upgrade over Nailor if he can stay healthy and it sounds like he's making less money too? W move by the Vikes.

To me Jennings-to-MIN didn't make sense because I didn't think he'd take a deal like this one. Man what did this guy do in the locker room at SF to nuke his market? Regardless, I like the signing.

Jennings and Addison both in contract years is going to create some hungry mouths, not to mention some intrigue over which we might re-sign. Hopefully everyone gets fed this season.
