Didn't watch the video, but I do think that the weather more affected the Bears offense than the Vikings defense. I think BFlo's defense requires an offense to be precise, both in terms of processing and in terms of physical precision. There's probably a certain window size that the QB has to figure out where to go with the ball and actually get it there. I think slippery balls and poor traction just degrade precision in a way that's asymmetrical and really narrows the margin for error an offense has.

That said, I do think that Ben Johnson probably didn't have the right plan going into the game given the weather and field conditions involved.

I wouldn't feel comfortable taking this games outcome and assuming that a game at USBank Stadium will go the same way and if we play at Soldier Field again, in the same weather or in less inclimate weather, we probably need to get much more out of our offense to get a win as if we didn't get the TO on the one AND Williams going down, the game would have come down to our offense doing more than they did.

Vikings had a better game plan aNd executed it better too...

If anything Chicago should have been better prepared to play in that crap than the Vikings who are used to pristine, indoor conditions.

I don't think it was the weather after watching this. These guys broke it down well. Johnson runs lots of play action normally. Facing Flores, he completely changed and ended up outsmarting himself. They ran mostly shotgun to help CW diagnose the pressure. But they got away from what worked. They caught the Vikings on a few screens late, but way too late.

Also I was shocked to see the blitz rate. Watching the game, I thought Flores was holding back, playing coverage like he did last year. But no, he brought more pressure and it wasn't simulated pressure, they actually came. I guess the coverage looked so good for the most part, I thought no way we were blitzing. It was more 5 man fronts, but still, the D held up well.

Wind and rain don't favor the offense. Bad fields can favor the offense, but the rain made it hard to throw effectively.

I think that's only partially true. I think the attacking player has an advantage and the reactive player has the disadvantage. I think the WRs probably have an advantage over the CBs. The run blockers probably have an advantage over the run defenders. But I think during the passing game, the pass rushers are the attackers and the pass blockers are more reactive. It probably doesn't matter against a more normal defense, where guys line up and try to beat the guy in front of them. With a Flores defense, the defense is highly attacking and the offense is highly reactive to that high level of pressure and chaos.
