Vikings/Bijan rumors

Dunno, I don't think the play calling helped too much. Once we started actually running the ball, they had some nice runs.

They were doing their diligence and sticking to honing/executing that Smith wide zone...

Pack D played it very well for most of the game imo.

We've had some great backs here over the years and I'd love to see it happen again next draft.

The wide zone scheme takes a little bit of time with the OL. You can practice it all day long, but the game speed timing takes a bit. You have to figure out how long to hold a block before swinging out, you have to know how many steps to get outside, you have to feel when your backside blocking is moving across. None of this can really be practiced even in Preseason games. It's a timing and feel thing that takes some reps. I would say by game 5 or 6 it will look much better overall.

Leber mentioned the wide zone in his comments after the game. Said Gannon was expecting the wide zone runs and played them well. Once we started running more up the middle, their D wasn't able to adjust and were confused. KOC still needs to work on his running game, but kudos for adjusting. Wonder if this was Smith's influence?

you dont run races with draft horses, we've got some meat up front, let them use that size to move the damn ball instead of trying to out athlete the guys on the other side of the ball.

also, I still dont buy that explanation that called back that 50 yard run... he was not stumbling when he got a couple fingers drug across his shoulder, he didnt loose balance until he whammed off of Darrisaw's back side.... so all the talk about the refs helping the Vikings, that shit can STFU.

Saw the replay # of times in the stadium...He was not touched that I could see???

he was grazed as he was going through the hole, but it was well before he banged off Darrisaw which is what made him stumble to the turf. no way in hell that light touch affected that run at all... except the part where they used that as an excuse to bring it back.

It was close IMO. The thing that bothered me was they went to replay assist and called it back. If he were called down initially, I would have had no problem. Getting jostled going thru the middle and goes down? Hard to say the D didn't cause that in some way. But they let it play out and should have let it stand.

I am sure the D had an affect on him stumbling, they were pushing the people around that actually caused him to stumble, but I am saying that contact was to light and to much before he began to stumble to have caused it. if that is how they are going to interpret the rules, then just call it touch football, but can we please at least make it 2 hand touch?
