Quite the Week 1 outcomes in the NFL...
The media darlings, the Superbowl 'darkhorse' Dallas Cowboys, got thumped by the Giants. Enter media excuses, stage right.
Can Justin Herbert ever step up? What a loss to Arizona....in L.A.! Where's that juggernaut Harbaugh run game? 👀
Aaron Rodgers sure throws a lot of incompletions now....if Atlanta trotted anyone out there but QB3, they'd have beat Pittsburgh.
Detroit should have lost that game to New Orleans, kudos to the Saints for going for the win on the 2 point conversion. New Orleans got screwed on that overturned TD.
Cleveland looks bad, really bad. NFL worst bad although its early. Willis in Miami? Yeesh, another bad team.
Jayden Daniels? Not sure who he is exactly, but I'm getting the vibe he's on the lesser side compared to the more side. His rookie season seems a long time ago.
Jaxson Dart sure looks good, love his game if he stops taking needless hits. Kind of Joe Burrow cockiness and tons of talent.
If Mayfield doesn't fumble 3 times and Bucky Irvin once, they beat Cincy. Easily. Baker needs to settle down and not try and prove that new contract in one game. He's got a lot of red ass in him, not always a good thing.
I think Chicago got a real one in Caleb Williams unfortunately...and the right guy in Ben Johnson.
And other than being elated about beating Green Bay, not sure what to take from the Viking's win. One of the weirdest games and wins in recent memory. Really, K1 gets hurt almost immediately? The bad luck for KOC with QBs is just unf-cking believable. Count me in for being concerned about the offensive line, hopefully they get better. This team is going to be easier to beat with someone like Carson Wentz at QB1, easier to gameplan for. We'll see. The D looked atrocious for 2+ quarters. Better get a replacement at starting RG for '27, I wonder if Huber will get a shot down the road this year if Fries continues to underperform? K1 has to stop those moon ball horseshit passes, that INT was brutal.
I think much of this up and down or inconsistency by teams can be attributed to it being Week 1....not a ton of reps for the starters. Should be cleaner football next weekend and moving forward.
So what do we have with Kyler Murray? Who knows, right? That INT was inexcusable for a vet, but he hasn't played live football since last October so early slack required I suppose.
Cleveland, not Arizona looks like the worst team in the NFL. Watson is only starting because of the money they owe him and the fact that Sheduer just isn't a starting caliber QB. Don't think Watson is either. They'll be in play for the #1 pick. Their defense will win them a game or two... but it looks like a race between Cleveland and Miami for the #1.
Bears offense looked really good against what was a good Carolina defense last season. I'm not sure if they lost anyone, but impressive performance. We'll need to stop their run game this weekend if we want a shot. Their defense picked up where it left off last year, got some turnovers but gave up too many yards and points to Bryce Young and an average at best Carolina offense. Could be their Achilles heel if the defense doesn't tighten up.
Jayden Daniels was special his rookie year because of his legs. If they try to keep him a pocket passer, I think we'll see more of this level of play... which is a big step down from his rookie year.

Outside of the Viking game, the biggest surprise to me was the Chargers. Man, I really expected more. I'm sure they'll settle in but to drop an opener to the Cardinals? A team that really wants to tank?

Rams lost Garrett for 4 weeks as well. That has to sting.

We talked about this to some degree last season, but going for it on 4th down is getting out of control in the NFL. Packers were 0-2 on 4th down yesterday. Both were big momentum changers.
The Bears had a 4th down on their own 21 yard line against the Panthers yesterday. They went for it and didn't get it. I get being aggressive is all the rage in the NFL these days, but your own 21!? That's just idiotic.
I'm convinced a lot of coaches don't even think about the risk/benefit. Sure, if you get it, you can continue your drive. That's it. That's all it means. But if you DON'T get it, it can change the entire complexion of the game.

I was watching this for a second on the Redzone Channel and he was radioactive on the sideline after it. Nobody said anything to him but all were disgusted. I think one player went over and told him he f-ed up. Diggs cares about Diggs.
And Red Ass LaFleur just loves trying to have big balls with these 4th down calls. Took points OFF the board, on the road. Arrogance.
I would have gotten burned if I followed my hunch and put $$ on Lions/Saints game...
