Come for the Vikings, stay for the Reuben nachos

We sampled this year’s starting lineup of new and returning concessions at U.S. Bank Stadium. Here are our 10 favorites to look for on game day.

The Vikings are back at U.S. Bank Stadium, and while we’re hopeful the team has a game plan, we know we have ours: come hungry.

Ahead of Sunday’s home opener, the Taste Team got an early look at what fans will be eating this season. From returning standouts like apple fries from MN Brat Dog, the darling of this year’s State Fair, to a new crop of local vendors, here are 10 MVPs from this year’s stadium food lineup. (Prices were not available at the event.)

Reuben Nachos and Reuben Sandwich

Stanley’s restaurant and bar in northeast Minneapolis brings two versions of its signature Reuben to the stadium this year, and while the sandwich is a solid pick, the Reuben nachos are an entirely new kind of snack. They turn the deli classic into a cousin of Reuben dip, without the gloppiness. Crispy, seasoned potato chips are topped with corned beef, sauerkraut, melted cheese and plenty of that sweet-savory dressing. It’s a great idea for game-day grazing.

Yes, U.S. Bank Stadium serves deep-fried walleye fingers from Lord Fletcher's during Vikings home games. Walleye fingers served with chips or fries. :tu_purp:Made my day…! 😎

Those don't market as well.
Same. I typically don't eat or drink at stadiums. I don't like to waste money and time. If I take the kids to a Jr Hockey game, I will get a few snack items, but can't afford to "feed the family" at those prices. And standing in line while the game is on really isn't where I want to be.

There was nothing like standing in line, elbow to elbow, 20+ deep, at the trough in the meterodome without monitors, and hear the roar of the crowd in the 4th Quarter. I never drank until after the games despite tailgating before. I still remember the beer vendors at the Met. barking out 'cold beer here. Get your cold beer'. That hasn't changed much but the menu is definitely better now.

Love me a good reuben, but with nachos? Oh hell no.
