Got home after the game started, how did he get hurt?
He was sacked on the final play of the first possession. He has been ruled out for remainder of the game.

#Seahawks QB Sam Darnold will not return tonight against the #Patriots as he undergoes further testing on his hip off-site. It’s Drew Lock the rest of the way. pic.twitter.com/9IxYEAheaq

What might be a pivotal play in the 2026 season, and certainly has been THE pivotal play of tonight’s game … pic.twitter.com/SAU0ssEu8A

Interesting game. Thought the Patriots were going to have another cake season, playing against backup QB after backup QB. Rough 4th Q for Maye, gave the game away really. Shit the bed. The last INT was beyond brutal. Maye is 0-12 against winning teams. The magical Cinderella run the Patriots had last year was remarkable....anything and everything that could go right DID along with the easiest NFL schedule since 1999.
Looks like Darnold got some good news about his injury. 👍
Drake Maye's last 5 games:

7 TD : 11 turnovers
7 INTs, 4 fumbles lost
24 sacks taken
143 yards lost on sacks
6.6 yds/att
5.6 net yards/att pic.twitter.com/NdxI32L4Rb
So Drake Maye for JJm straight up?
Hell, At this point all of them have had their moments when they looked good and when they looked awful.

Wow. Great game....

Maye is gonna struggle this year
Agreed, great game. Hopefully Darnold is okay. His injury made my bet a push on what should've been an easy win but that'll happen.
On the Pats-- I'm fading them this year. I think Vrabel is a good coach. But has he ever coached a good offense?
I think Vrable is a good coach too. And I've always liked the Pats OC
Hell, Dobbs makes that simple, wide-open catch from Maye? Odds are high the Pats win
Boring as hell football game imo
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
And just like that, Seattle's playoff hopes are diminished and the Patriots suddenly don't look like sure things in the AFC.

Word I got during the game was worst case was a fractured hip socket, out for the year. Likely best case was a torn labrum. He could get it repaired and come back this year.
They ruled out the hip fracture and he's getting an MRI to see what is damaged. So it's looking better for Uncle Sammy.
Hard to believe Darnold is going into his 9th season - yikes!
The hit looked pretty tame in the grand scheme of QB hits.

Looks like he landed on his knee with defenders weight on him, the hip took the brunt of that load.
Sam Darnold has received "really, really good news" regarding his hip injury, coach Mike Macdonald said Thursday, but the Seattle Seahawks' starting quarterback is expected to miss next week's game, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Darnold, 29, had an MRI on his right hip Thursday morning after he was injured on the opening possession of Wednesday night's game against the New England Patriots.
Macdonald, during his weekly radio show on Seattle Sports 710 AM, said Darnold's hip is intact and that it appears the injury is more muscular.
"The hip is intact and it's good," Macdonald said Thursday. "It's more of a muscle thing. So that's good news.
"Now, how long that is, we don't know yet. But really, really good news. So we're really happy for Sam."
Sources told ESPN and NFL Network that Darnold is expected to miss the Seahawks' next game at Arizona on Sept. 20, but he should be back sooner rather than later and that Seattle has "dodged a bullet."
The Seahawks are scheduled to host the Washington Commanders in Week 3 (Sept. 27).
A source told ESPN's Brady Henderson that Darnold spent the night in the hospital, in part because of how much discomfort he was in.
"It is painful," Macdonald said Thursday: "Hasn't been an easy night for him."
Backup Drew Lock took over after Darnold's exit and rallied the reigning Super Bowl champs to a 13-10 victory in a rematch of Super Bowl LX opponents.

Sam Darnold is expected to miss next week's game, but he should be back sooner, rather than later, sources say. Could be just a few weeks.

With 17 days from Wed. until their Week 3 game against the #Commanders, Darnold gets a schedule break, as well. https://t.co/UjGk85IYPA

See Sam. Had you stayed in MN you wouldn't have gotten injured.

I said this to my buddy last night, same situation at the end and JJM wins that game.
