He won't beat out the cold blooded killer, but he's a solid kicker and person.

He fits the criteria of a prospect to develop

If he's gonna make it in the NFL he needs to extend his range beyond 50 yards.

Yeah, his career long at Oregon appeared to be 51.

I don't think either the additional punter or kicker they've signed is any kind of competition, but they need extra legs during TC and OTAs so the starters don't get fatigued.

Hekker used to be one of the league's best punters. Not so much anymore. Where he does excel is holding for FGs. If I was Thorson, I would be drilling this skill every day into training camp.

I agree, however with sappington, I can't tell how much more he'll improve.

We graduated from the same high school. Central Catholic in Portland Oregon.

He didn't kick a football until his sophomore year

He went to camps and improved and played varsity as a junior. Went to camps and was first team all state as a senior.

Went to Oregon State from 2021-2023 and improved.

Oregon ducks lured him away. He kicked there in 2024 and 2025 and he improved.

I can see where the Vikings keep him as adevelopmental kicker in case Reichert gets injured would be a good fit for him.

Maybe he washes out during mini camp, but my guess the Vikings will keep him because his range and game is still developing.
