I remember the when the popular opinion was to ditch cable and dish or cut the cord as they said. I don’t know which is worse. The option of cancelling anytime is good though unlike being locked in contract

I read somewhere that the streaming services & networks purposely negotiate end dates for their agreements during football season in order to provide an incentive to get renewal deals done.

I've been reading a lot of complaints about people who cut the cord, only to find themselves with a half dozen streaming subs, paying more than they did before for roughly the same content. 

I do like that I'm able to turn it on and off like a light switch though. I'll cancel YTTV (with Sunday Ticket) after football season. I'm canceling Netflix soon. I just don't have the time or attention span to watch series, which is the only thing Netflix is good for. I'll keep Youtube Premium and Amazon Prime.

The popular opinion is this house is a plex server. If it isn’t live (or Netflix we’ve kept it) it goes on the server with no commercials. 

It takes a little bit of effort but it is much more enjoyable to know I’m not supporting some injury attorney or some new drug no one can pronounce.

ABC is broadcasting all the MNF games so far this year so I'm just getting them on the trusty old antenna.

I'm sick of it as a subscriber, but I don't blame YouTube TV. Didn't miss much of a game last night.

Judging on the last 2 weeks, maybe you should send them a thank you…  :cool: :angel:

Well what happened to cable is now happening to streaming services: strong armed by monopolies that control desired content (sports). ESPN 25 years ago just bought the rights to EVERY major popular sports entity and then forced small cable providers to accept big increases that they had no choice but to pass along to customers. Its ESPN/Disney that is at fault, not YouTube TV. Just like it wasn't Comcast's fault or your regional cable provider back in the day. The old bait and switch....and don't think the streaming services didn't know this was coming. Subscription service model is the biggest scam going and its proliferation into all aspects of everything is unreal. This is very much worth a watch:

We cut the cord a while ago.  We watch much less "TV" now, which kind of got switched over to watching YouTube, as we mostly like watching real people more than produced shows.  That said YouTube has enshittified like everyone else.  There's too many ads.  The algorithm sucks now and pushes you in a direction rather than showing you stuff you'd like.

Overall, I think we're just not super happy with "content" right now.

I am another disappointed YouTube customer. After moving from MN to AZ I had to rely on whoever carries the NFL package which I did. I was happy when YouTube took over and I didn't need a dish outside my house anymore. About a year and 1/2 ago, after becoming a Phoenix Suns fan, YouTube cancelled their agreement with the local channel that broadcasts the Suns games and started blocking out all of the games that were even nationally televised. Once again I am disappointed with them as they failed to get an agreement so I could watch Monday night football. I broke down and purchased a one-day pass from Sling TV for $4.99 and was able to add the app to my Roku and watch the game last night. I also got to watch Get Up and the Pat McAfee show this morning for the first time in a couple weeks. It will go away, but I also got my email so I can jump through YouTube hoops to collect my $20 credit. I think it is time to evaluate my streaming options again.

And honestly I don't even like streaming television. Seems like it's always glitchy. If the Sunday Ticket never had switched from Directv, then I wouldn't have either. I highly preferred satellite television. No glitches, no lag, high quality picture, it was great. I am one of them. I don’t personally watch much tv but pay for way too many subscriptions than I can count. We are seldom home to begin with  :@

That's funny Supa.  When I had Direct TV, it was always going down even in mildly inclement weather.  I couldn't wait to get back on a wired service.

I looked into YTTV to cut the DISH cord...Prices were too similar to warrant the hardware switch/electronic surgery. 

We stream using Apple TV Box (I like iOS interface). We have an OTA antennae that integrates directly into our DISH hopper guide for more channels and ZERO weather issues anymore (at least for the locals on ota). 

As far as streaming glitches go? Those went away when our internet speed increased. Our computer zooms are glitch free now too! 

Our TV doesnt go on until after dinner or later, but I really enjoy having live tv and streaming at the finger tips. I also subscribe to the DISH Flex Pak. So my bill goes down almost $14/mos when its not football season.

Really!? That's interesting. I live in California where the weather is pretty mild, so I'd only ever have issues during a rare turential downpour or hail. Otherwise I never had an issue and really liked Directv. I could definately see having more of an issue though in areas like the Midwest.
