Ben Johnson to Chicago
A new day in Chicago: The #Bears are finalizing a deal to hire Ben Johnson as their head coach, per sources.

Johnson is set to fly there soon and contract parameters are in place. Barring a last-minute snag, the #Lions OC lands with an NFC North rival. pic.twitter.com/Y1i4lRtpw5

Personally, if I was going to poach the Lions, I'd go after GM and executive vice president Brad Holmes.
Well, at face value that sucks...Especially if you're a Lions fan.
I'm telling you, the Bears were so close to winning more games last year.
If Johnson is worth his salt, they will do just that. He has some pieces to build on and play with.
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
Kind of a surprise. Rumor was he was going to take the Raiders job and bring Hendon Hooker with him via trade to be his starter. The Caleb Williams temptation must have been too much to resist.
And for the record, I think Aaron Glenn is going to bomb wherever he ends up. Was hoping he would be the hire in Chicago

I am guessing it was the 5 year 14.5 million dollar deal that probably did it

If Johnson gets 14.5/year, what the heck is KOC going to get???
He's proven much more than Ben has as HC.

I am going to bet that the talks breaking down over money per year will end up biting the Wilfs now.

Honestly... I think KOC and LaFleur are significantly underpaid. They are both making 5-6 mil per year and are great offensive minds and have had winning records with multiple QBs. They have entered the Shanahan/McVay tier of pay IMO.
With Mike McDonald getting 9 mil per as a first time HC last year and Ben Johnson getting 14 per year, KOC should slot in above that.
Someone else will happily pay him if we don't.

HC is the new QB, you gotta pay them or somebody else will.
These young offensive minded coaches are sure making it seem that way. Fact is that these young coaches are bringing a new style.
Honestly, this is a boom or bust selection. Bears fans are acting like Johnson is going to make Bill Walsh and Bill Belichick look like garbage, lol. The Bears have been the masters of the social media offseason the past few years, so I'll need to see it before I believing anything has changed. Obviously this is about Caleb Williams. You tie your little red wagon to somebody, KOC is about to do that with either Darnold or McCarthy. Kingsbury did that with Kyler Murray and got burned, but looks like he'll get another shot somewhere soon because of Daniels. Young crew of NFCN head coaches.
