No, I'm not giving up on this season, but here's a nugget of happiness just in time.

This is what I was hoping for. The cerebral aspect of playing QB in the NFL is probably as or more important than the physical, athletic aspects. Remember how long it took for Cousins to get comfortable with KOC's offense? The first 8 games. If JJM has that part generally mastered in his head, I think his upside will be even better.

Please God, just one Lombardi before I die.

This is going to be huge for him next season. Him thinking less about plays, as his understanding with the playbook will be dramatically better and letting that ability coming through is exciting. He'll have seen what works and what doesn't in real time. Big, big ceiling for this kid in every way a QB can be quantified. We all got just a small taste of what he's capable of. If he had to get injured, it came at the perfect time. He'll be way, way past 100% come May OTAs.

We've got the 2024 season to play, so I won't bore the board any more than I already have with how I feel about this dude, but he's the real deal. You'll see. The Purple King is comin'. He's the guy where you raise the bar for him and he exceeds it.

The more I see, the more I'm very much ok with McCarthy sitting this whole year. Blessing in disguise. Just 21 years old.

Me too - I just wish it wasn't associated with surgery.

I think the more teams can emulate the Packers way of curating a qb the better. Say what you want about LaFleur, he brought Love along the right way and I think he's every bit the QB whisper KOC is.

Same family tree I guess.

Per
@AlbertBreer
,
@Vikings
rookie QB J.J. McCarthy was part of the team’s traveling party for the first time in LA and "went out to dinner in L.A. with the QBs Wednesday night".

Breer said further that "McCarthy is building strength back now and isn’t yet at the point where it’s 50-50 rehab-to-football work, but he’s getting there".

McCarthy still participates in meetings and has a 1-1 meeting once a week with HC Kevin O’Connell.

Although @Vikings QB Sam Darnold has show to be "consistent" and a "good fit for the Vikings offense", @AlbertBreer
says HC Kevin O'Connell "addressed the elephant in the room, and told Darnold to worry about having a good day, a good practice, a good game".

After that, "they’d all address what would be a very good problem down the line".
