If Kyler is out. It’s a risky decision but my opinion anyway.

He’s probably not as good as Wentz right now but big picture thinking he may give us the best chance against a team that will likely score 30 points and it also gives a prized pick another chance to shine. Wentz really has high end backup vibes but I don’t see us reaching lofty places with him as the starter.

Did I watch a different game on Sunday? It was a weird one..but I'm pretty sure the day wasn't saved by the offense. They played with very short fields and got the job done...but that game was just another in the long line of Packer chokes in the 4th quarter. Wentz went 12-19 for 133 yards. His longest completion was a free play to JJ and another TD throw was a throw in the flat that somehow JJ found a way to turn into the end zone. The Hockenson TD was a nicely placed ball. That was a pedestrian performance at best.

Than I see calls to keep staying committed to the run. While I agree with the sentiment...we just really sucked at running the ball on Sunday. Maybe we shouldn't have told the world that we were going to run more of a spread running game this year. As much training camp secrecy as we had this year...maybe we could have kept that to ourselves. The results on Sunday? 34 runs for 107 yards (3.1 yards per attempt) and that included a 28 yard scamper. The Packers were waiting for the outside runs. The positive for the running game is that they were able to take a short field and punch the ball in...something they struggled with in years past.

Does anybody believe that 12-19 for 133 yards will win the game on Sunday? I guess it's a possibility. JJM beat them Game 1 last year by going 13-20 for 143 yard, 2 TDs and an INT. I have no trouble with Wentz as the game backup...where you have to be ready to jump in at any moment without proper preparation. He didn't lose the game. Why wouldn't we at least consider JJM this week with a week to prepare if Murray doesn't clear protocol? It gives you one more data point in your long term decision making process.

There are reasons for sure. So did KOC really mean what he said when he said the backup sitch was fluid? Maybe that is how you encourage a young developing player through the media

I think that this week JJ is the backup wjere last week he wasn’t. And when Murray comes back he won’t be the backup again.

Pretty fluid. I also think JJM doesn’t give people a lot of confidence in him both abolity wise and personality wise.

Someday we'll know if JJM needed more development or was just a bust of a #10 pick.
until then?

I am going with, he will be a bust because he wasn’t given more time.

I guess anything can happen technically, but Wentz having some kind of crazy good campaign as the Viking's starter isn't going to be a thing. In fact, lets revisit this thread after the Chicago game because I think fans are going to feel VERY differently about Carson come Sunday around 3:00 pm central time. He's a backup now. The Bears are going to bring the kitchen sink and Wentz is going to look old and slow....and all the fans jumping on his bandwagon will be breaking ankles getting off.
Get Murray out there ASAP so we can see what we have.

Bold prediction there sticky…. Let’s see how it turns out.

Defenses can just pin their ears back and go right after Wentz. He is a statue with zero scrambling threat. He takes so much of our playbook away. He will always be a 150-200 yrd per game guy. 1 TD maybe 2 and an int. Will take 6 sacks a game because he cant move.

He does go through reads well but if our OL plays like they did on Sunday then Wentz is fucked and we can just take the loss now.

I'd rather give JJM the start and lets see if we throw him in the trash can next year or not. Murray will be back game 3 and we go from there.

Wentz is not the answer for the future, past or present.

slants quick outs and a run game

It goes without saying I'd like to be wrong.....good thing that's the case mostly. 😀

I'll say this: the national media has CROWNED Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson. Signed, sealed and delivered. You know, like the Rams going undefeated this year. 🙄

I also think there's zero doubt, regardless of how healthy he is, that Murray will not start Sunday. Its going to be Wentz.

As much as I still want the team to develop JJM and finally grow a QB in-house, Wentz is the current hot hand and has the experience to (hopefully) capitalize on Sunday's game plan.

Murray...looked like he fast-forwarded to late-season issues that have plagued his career, and that's before GB tried to decapitate him. I know 11 snaps (I think?) is hardly a sample size, but the debut was a festival of pain.

Getting close to Vikings Football time...!!!

Problem is that he makes those mistakes at bad times as well. Been known for it. You can't just chuck it up and hope JJ is out there. I have watched the play multiple times, and I don't believe he saw the S coming over the top. It happens, but to toss a ball up with no care is a major fault he has.
