Keep Wentz back there until he shows us why that’s a bad idea. Give Kyler plenty of time to heal up.

Agreed, I think Murray misses next week's game and then he'll be back.

If that was the opposing QB and our defense we are talking about a very late slide and he didnt give himself up feet first to be afforded the protection. The head contact was unfortunate, but I think the way KM finished that run had as much to do with him getting KOd as the way the defenders finished him. I still see it as a shot to the head, but I dont think it was as dirty as it looked based on KMs awkward as hell attempt to slide late.

With running QBs that like to juke defenders at the last second, they have no choice but to finish their hits or they end up looking the fool in a highlight reel.

I still throw the flag there, but I didnt see it as aggregious as some do.

I don't think it was that dirty of a hit. It was just a super late slide, and hard to call it a slide at all. He just sort of sat down and lowered his head into the hits.

They need to eliminate this slide from the NFL as it causes more injuries than it prevents.

With the amount of shoulder throwing from Packers defenders, they were looking to hit heads and take out knees. I think that's why the refs started really looking at the hits on Wentz and other Vikings players... More unnecessary roughness calls and illegal hits on the QB than I've seen us get but it's hard to argue with most of them.

I don't think it was dirty at all. Just an unfortunate way the bodies came together. Murray's typically very good at avoiding contact at the end of his runs. Remarkably so. But not this time. I think he was too amped up.

Don't be surprised if Van Ness shows up on the injury report this week with a minor hand injury from this play.

I think they need to eliminate the "fake" slide. The bullshit Mahomes does where he fakes and keeps running. That is what I think causes more issues. Fake slide...10 yard penalty. Slide or don't. Also if you go head first, you are the same as any other player, which I think they do anyways, but the head contact can be incidental. They give players very little choice, you almost have to hit low any more. Anything above the neckline is a penalty. So if you start in low and the player dives down, not much you can do.

While I do agree that I hate the fake slide, I think a lot of the trouble with the slide is that QBs having conflicting goals in their brain.  Like “I need to slide, but I also need to get a first down” and you combine that with trying to navigate a bunch of bodies and I think they just process the situation too slow, like there’s one too many balls to juggle, and they end up sliding late, and sliding late is just putting the head right in the strike zone of a normal, desirable tackle, and now instead of a sore shoulder they have a massive concussion that leads directly to CTE.

I think if they get rid of the slide completely or say it has to be done like 4-5 yards from the nearest player or something, it eliminates the idea that they should just get a few more yards and then slide at the last minute.  At that point in time, you’re just better off diving away from direct  contact anyway.

You make a great point. I didn't think Murray slid, so it wasn't a cheap shot in that regards, but the arm to his head was dirty. And they got called for targeting Jefferson in the head. They were definitely trying to push that line, probably the new coach trying to establish his MO.

I do find it hilarious (mentioned elsewhere as well) that the packer fans are bitching about the weight on the QB penalty when that is the Rodgers rule they proposed. The lineman did try to keep his weight off, but with his substantial girth his arms were too short. And wentz sold it pretty well.

I think, if you slow motion the shit out of it, it did look a little like he was trying to.keep his weight off him, and if that were it, it might have been enough, I think where he got in trouble was that it looked to me like he was picking him up to drive him into the ground and that says more about his intent to the refs than whatever little hard to see bit happened at the end.

thats what I saw as well, he snapped him to the ground and only let off a little in terms of crushing weight. those arms didnt absorb much of that mass after the way he started the tackle.

Too amped up....... WTF lol. He was amped up enough to throw an absolute trash moon ball. We didn't get the chance to see his hospital balls, I can't wait to get Jefferson absolutely blasted from them, that should be a good time. I didn't even see anything to even get me a little excited for his return. His mechanics are awful, but that is only an issue with JJM. Talk about a QB that can never stay on the field. I thought he was so great at protecting himself. If KOC doesn't win a playoff game this year, he is fired.
