Can't see anyone complaining about this hire. Seriously. If he and KOC are united, we might be on the precipice of some good times.

Word is, KOC and him know each other and personally outside of football. So, I think this is perfect. I thought McKay, but I am stoked about this hire.

Obviously, Seattle scouted and ranked McCarthy as every team does every year in the Draft....I wonder what Teasley thinks of him? Could be an interesting offseason on several fronts with a few players. He's a John Schneider tree hire guy, great place to be from. I'll bet there's already a strategy in mind with Teasley/KOC for 2027.

I'm really hoping Teasley comes in, cans Grigson, and revamps the scouting department. It's loooong overdue.

I can't say enough how happy I am with this hire. It's an incredibly sensible hire and very unlike the Wilfs. Its like a breath of fresh air after being in the Kwesi outhouse the last four years. Regardless of what happens with OConnell, I think we have a real chance to do something now with Teasley running the show. This entire process was so screwed up by ownership, but at the end of the day I truly believe they hired the right guy for this franchise. I just hope ownership gives him the leash to do his job as he sees fit and doesn't hold him (and his job) to some "competitive mandates" that have gotten us nowhere. Get out of his way and let him do his job.

Teasley is stewarding a team that may be similar to what 2008 was heading into 09. It's not a bad gig to inherit. Good ownership who are not afraid to spend, best facilities & player culture, good coaching staff etc...

I think the Vikings took a step back losing Greenard and they'll take a step forward with either K1 or an improved JJM at QB. He's got some good pieces on the field to work with, quality coaching and a team thats not too far from being able to win in post-season.

Growing-up in Washington State, MN will not be too culturally a shock for the family either.

Fingers crossed...

The Vikings probably made a good GM hire in Nolan Teasley, but who can tell?

The Seattle Seahawks assistant GM has a strong résumé and comes from a winning team, but the No. 1 job is a different challenge.

Let’s be even more honest than usual about the Vikings’ decision on their new general manager:

We have no idea how this will turn out.

On Saturday, the Vikings hired Seattle Seahawks assistant general manager Nolan Teasley to become their new GM.

Like most people taking on a job at a certain level for the first time, Teasley has an interesting backstory and plenty of promising résumé points.

Also like most people taking on a job at a certain level for the first time, Teasley is a walking, talking mystery until we see how he handles pressure and scrutiny he has never faced before.

Is it a good thing or bad thing that he worked in an excellent organization and for a renowned general manager in John Schneider?

Pro: Those firsthand experiences should give him an advantage.

Con: We have no idea whether he was a driver of success or just sat in the passenger seat.

I do love the way the Seahawks function. Schneider ranks among the best GMs in the game, along with Philadelphia’s Howie Roseman, the Los Angeles Rams’ Les Snead and Kansas City’s Brett Veach. The Seahawks draft well, make good decisions in free agency, develop their own players effectively and evaluate quarterbacks intelligently.

They ditched Russell Wilson at the right time and for the right price, and he tanked in Denver. They got the most they could out of Geno Smith, then traded him to Las Vegas, and he fell apart. They signed Sam Darnold after his stellar year with the Vikings, and he helped them win a Super Bowl.

Because of his experiences and the way he worked his way through the organization, Teasley should be well-suited to running the Vikings. He is also a fairly traditional hire, someone who has earned a chance to take a half-step up the organizational chart and prove himself with a new team.

Teasley’s hiring highlights the risk the Vikings took the last time around, when they hired Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, who had a background in finance and analytics. I can’t fault the Vikings for making an unconventional hire, but what short-circuited Adofo-Mensah’s credibility in the organization was his lack of connectivity with key employees and his refusal to work the kind of ridiculous hours that NFL people usually put in, especially during the draft.

Adofo-Mensah admitted he would leave after the Vikings made their first-round draft pick to go home and get in the hot tub. There’s nothing wrong with that in the real world, but in the NFL, when the decisionmaker leaves and the grinders are working late to set up the next day’s draft, you are not going to be a popular boss.

Adofo-Mensah’s résumé was impressive. The Wilfs and those who aided in the hiring process should have done more background work on how Adofo-Mensah fit into other workplaces and what his work habits were.

The Vikings are known as a player-friendly franchise. This should also be a general manager-friendly franchise.

They have an excellent offensive coach in Kevin O’Connell and an excellent defensive coach in Brian Flores, both of whom are quality talent evaluators. They have a superstar in Justin Jefferson and have proven they can win big when they get decent quarterback play.

The most interesting and important dynamic in the organization will be how Teasley works with O’Connell. Like most successful coaches, O’Connell plays to his strength, which is designing intricate pass plays. Teasley got this job in part because Seattle took pressure off Darnold by relying heavily on running back Kenneth Walker III’s physical running style in the postseason.

The Vikings have a large, talented offensive line featuring two powerhouse tackles (Christian Darrisaw and Brian O’Neill) and a powerhouse guard in Donovan Jackson. They should have run the ball more last season when they were juggling struggling quarterbacks.

Teasley will be judged largely on talent evaluation in the draft and free agency. If he’s really good at his job, he will earn the right to nudge O’Connell toward whatever offensive philosophy plays to the roster’s strengths.

The fact he was hired by the Wilf's suggest he won't be successful! However, the one thing lacking in their previous hires has been talent evaluation skills. All GM's have hits and misses, but Spielman couldn't seem to evaluate QB's, and for the most part, offensive linemen. Kwesi seemed to be playing pin on the donkey with his picks.

Just for once, give me a GM who is skilled at talent evaluation and acquisition, and this team will have a bright future.

It is said, Teasley is a skilled talent evaluator. Hope that is true.

He has to get the QB right...Otherwise his ceiling will be Spielman'esque.

Schneider is going to work to retain his best, but I sure do expect some personnel pipeline from Washington to MN over the next mos or so.

Teasley will want to be on solid ground with his staff by the time TC opens

Vikings stealing Nolan Teasley from Seahawks might be even worse than it appears

The Seattle Seahawks lost a key member of the front office to the Minnesota Vikings, as the NFC North team named Nolan Teasley its new general manager. The hire could change the fortunes of both teams in the immediate future.

Teasley will be taking over a Vikings team that isn't far away from contending. One of the key reasons the team fired former GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah wasn't that he couldn't build a collection of talent, but that he didn't seem to understand how to get the best possible answer at the most important position in sports: Quarterback.

Vikings fans watched as former QB1 in Minnesota, Sam Darnold, signed with the Seahawks last offseason, and then followed that by helping lead his team to a Super Bowl victory. That was Seattle's second title. Minnesota has never won a Super Bowl.

Minnesota Vikings hire Nolan Teasley from the Seattle Seahawks

Teasley, though, has the experience and, clearly, the ability to create an environment in which a team will thrive. He has been working with general manager John Schneider in Seattle since 2013, and has worked in scouting and been the director of pro personnel. He has most recently served as Schneider's assistant GM.

Schneider could very well be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame one day after leading the Seahawks to two Super Bowl wins. Still, with teams with two completely different rosters and coaching staffs (Schneider is the only GM to ever do that), Teasley would have learned at the knee of one of the best to ever perform general manager duties.

Nolan Teasley could also be entering a situation where his new team is already poised to make a deep run in the playoffs. Minnesota finished 9-8 last season despite the fact that its quarterback play was among the worst in the NFL. This offseason, the Vikings signed Kyler Murray.

Murray underwhelmed or was injured throughout his career with the Arizona Cardinals, as Seattle Seahawks fans know well due to their favorite team counting on two wins every season against the NFC West brethren, but under the wise direction of Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell, Murray could be coaxed into playing a much better form of football.

As the Minnesota Vikings play in the NFC, and could potentially be a difficult obstacle for the Seahawks to repeat as Super Bowl champions, Teasley is already in a good spot. The issue for Seattle is that Teasley is smart enough to make moves to get Minnesota even better well into the future. A great rivalry between Seattle and the Vikings might be about to start.

The Seattle Seahawks front office is feeling bittersweet after the Minnesota Vikings hired assistant general manager Nolan Teasley to their staff.

Teasley replaces Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, who was fired on Jan. 30, and is now the general manager of the Vikings.

Here's a look at three ways this impacts the Seahawks moving forward:

Additional Draft Picks

The biggest impact the move has for the Seahawks is the fact that they gain an additional third-round pick in the 2027 and 2028 drafts. Since Teasley would be considered the "primary football executive" and is a minority, the Seahawks would be compensated for his departure as part of the NFL's Rooney Rule.

This is huge for the Seahawks, who will now have eight picks in the 2027 NFL Draft and seven in 2028. The Seahawks have conditional picks in the seventh round of each draft and it remains to be seen if either will be conveyed.

The Seahawks can now use these draft picks to help make trades to boost their team as they try and get back to the Super Bowl for the second straight season.

Seahawks-Vikings Pipeline Continues

There have already been connections between the Seahawks and Vikings, the biggest one coming with Sam Darnold at quarterback. This is further proof that the two teams think very similarly.

The Vikings valued Teasley and the work he has done for the Seahawks' front office over the past several years, culminating with the franchise's Super Bowl LX victory against the New England Patriots. They wanted a championship pedigree for their next general manager and they got that with Teasley.

Look for the Vikings to be a potential landing spot for former Seahawks players in the future.

Seahawks Front Office Gains Notoriety

Every team around the league is taking note of what the Seahawks have done over the last several years. The Seahawks have built a winning culture in the Pacific Northwest, and teams may want a piece of that. The Seahawks will look to find a replacement for Teasley, likely from within, and will continue to grow as a front office even with the departure.

This could lead to more interviews down the line with Seattle executives, especially if the franchise continues to have success over the next several years.

.500 team post R.Wilson till Darnold...

They built a great surround during that time, 52% hit rate, best in NFL.

Good coaching staff too...BUT DAYUM, GET THE QB RIGHT!!!!
