Vikings hire Nolan Teasley as their new GM

The absolute only flag I have here is this guy fits the old competitive rebuild profile that was mentioned far too often of late. Of course, the difference is he was a part of actually successfully doing it. This was my favorite guy all along, so I’m quite happy with the hire.

I'm glad this nightmare is over and the Wilfs made a very good choice. Now, onto the next shit-show with sorting out the quarterback room and getting some stability at the position.

So he’s had his hands in trades, FA, and the draft. Pretty complete profile.

I now feel better about our front office than I have in a long, long time. I also love that Brzez is staying on as EVP of football operations. I think you are keeping him and bringing in Teasley for roles they have experience in and can excel in. No more trying to reinvent the wheel by hiring people of various backgrounds that don't correlate to the positions for which they are being hired for. Bravo to the Wilfs for realizing they don't know what they are doing and looked for outside guidance in making the GM hire

What else should you know about the new Vikings GM? Here are five key things:

An outsider

Of the Vikings’ five finalists for the GM role, Teasley had the weakest ties to the franchise or coach Kevin O’Connell.

While other candidates had previously worked for the Vikings scouting department or known O’Connell in a previous workplace, Teasley has spent his entire career in Seattle.

His only recorded ties, per se, were having overlapped with previous Vikings coaches Klint Kubiak and Andrew Janocko while they were serving as the Seahawks offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, respectively, in 2025.

That said, O’Connell is known to have a deep Rolodex from both his playing days and seven years in the coaching ranks.

Teasley was elevated to assistant general manager in 2023, becoming the right-hand man to longtime Seahawks GM John Schneider, a well-respected executive league-wide.

Schneider, a St. Thomas alum, has guided Seattle to two Super Bowl championships and an appearance in Super Bowl 49.

According to his Seahawks bio, Teasley oversaw football operations and worked closely with Schneider on player acquisition.

Notably, Teasley helped “with the implementation of the use of data within the scouting process, and manages the ongoing communication between the scouting, research, and analytics departments.”

Prior to becoming assistant GM, Teasley spent most of his time in the Seahawks’ pro personnel scouting department. He served as Seattle’s director of pro personnel for five seasons before his promotion.

Teasley’s football acumen and talent evaluation skills honed across a career in Seattle that included nine playoff appearances, three trips to the Super Bowl and two championships made him a top choice for the Vikings’ job.

Wrote 32 letters to 32 teams

Teasley, who grew up playing football in Washington state but stopped his junior year of college, initially went into marketing after graduating from Central Washington University with a degree in public relations.

When he found the career wasn’t serving him, he wrote letters to each of the NFL’s 32 teams in an attempt to get back into the football world. Two teams wrote back.

Eventually, a former college teammate and family friend who had worked in the Seahawks pro personnel department helped Teasley land an interview with Seattle, and he became an intern for them in 2013.

“I knew Nolan’s work habits and knew he was motivated for the right reasons,” the friend said in a 2023 piece by Central Washington University. “He has skyrocketed through the organization at this point, and it is well-deserved.”

Accelerator Program participant

Teasley was one of three of the Vikings GM finalists who participated in the NFL’s 2026 Accelerator Program at the league’s spring meetings in Orlando earlier this month.

Mark Wilf, Vikings Chief Operating Officer Andrew Miller and a few other senior leaders were in attendance at the meetings as Minnesota secured the bid for the 2028 NFL draft, and informal conversations with GM candidates are believed to have taken place in some form at the event.

The accelerator program was created in 2022 with the aim of increasing diversity in leadership roles across the league. It restarted this year after being canceled in 2025 and was open to non-minority candidates.

Vikings quarterbacks coach Josh McCown, as well as former Vikings coaches Grant Udinski and Daronte Jones, also took part in this year’s program.

Washington native

Teasley is originally from Ellensburg, Wash., where he played running back at Ellensburg High School. He was residing in Gig Harbor, Wash., with his wife, Morgan, and four sons while working for the Seahawks.

Ryan Grigson

Ryan Grigson enters his fourth season with the Minnesota Vikings in 2025 and first as an assistant general manager after being promoted to his current title in June of 2025.

Originally joining the Vikings staff in a senior personnel role in February of 2022, Grigson was promoted to senior vice president of player personnel following the 2022 NFL Draft, spending three seasons in the role (2022-24).

Grigson has more than 25 years of front office experience, serving most recently as a senior football advisor with the Cleveland Browns and most notably as the Indianapolis Colts General Manager from 2012-16.
