Brez is really maximizing draft picks and salaries - Comparison on moves
I do think all of these players are semi tied together although its not as clear on its face.
Did not resign Nailor - The money was too high for the vikings. However it opened up for a 5th round compensation pick in the 2027 draft
Greenard wants more money. Brez works with Rosenhaus, saying if you can find a deal and contract we will work with you. The Vikings needed more opportunity for Turner. Final offer comes in for 2 - 3rd round picks - 1 in 2026 and 1 in 2027 and saves $12 million on salary cap. The Vikings treated Greenard and Rosenhaus well.
Vikings draft Thomas SS in the 3rd.
Vikings with 2 additional draft picks in 2027 see value at the end of the draft at RB and trade a 6th to pick up Claiborne
Vikings work again with Rosenhaus and sign Jennings for $8 million dollars. Vikings had wanted a big WR - he remained hanging out on Free Agency, they continued to talk with Rosenhaus and were able to come to an agreement.
Vikings Lost - Greenard starting DE and Nailor WR #3 2027 6th round pick
Vikings Gain - More opportunity for Turner starting DE, Thomas backup Safety, Claiborne RB #3, Jennings WR #3, 2027 3rd round pick, 2027 5th round compensation pick, $4 million remaining on salary cap.

Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
It started when FA opened up...losing Nailor and took us to yesterday's signing of Jennings
. Yes, they all do tie together, because in today's NFL, you have to manage the roster, the salary cap, the draft and free agency simultaneously. Kwesi ended up overpaying in FA last year to overcompensate for his bad drafts.
Notice Brez didn't panic or really overpay.
Today, we are in much better shape than we were two months ago. Salary cap and roster alike.
Please God, just one Lombardi before I die.

I mean, we're better if he hits on all the draft picks and Banks is an instant HOFer. The non-QB roster is worse if the draft is more average and less exceptional. We're lost our edge depth, we lost two of our starting veteran DTs, we lost a HOF caliber safety, we lost our long time FB, we lost our WR3. We replaced them with a rookie, a rookie, a rookie, a rookie, a rookie, and a quality WR2/3. If 3 of those rookies play well immediately, that would be an amazing draft.
