Heard it on ESPN radio this morning and seen it here with Waddle and Silvy (ESPN Chicago), Waddle being the former Bear:

Tough spot for Williams if true, but this is what happens sometimes when you throw a guy in there. He gets sacked a bunch, but watch him play and tell me he doesn't hold onto the football way too long. He's also a bit of an odd duck supposedly. There's a video from last Sunday's game that shows him writhing on the ground after a hit and there's not an offensive linemen in sight to help him up. Not sure how much is accurate, but I think there's some fire with this smoke.
If this ends up being another bad QB pick in a few years, Chicago will have had the pick of the litter TWICE (Fields and Williams) and come up empty. Yikes. I also don't think Anthony Richardson is going to be anything and I hate to say that because he's a great young man.

His style worked in college but he had a very long time to throw and it doesn't translate. He looks terrible and the inept Bears organization doesn't help.
As for linemen not picking him up, maybe they were blinded by the glare off his fingernail polish and didn't see him lying there.

Williams might not be blameless. Maybe there's an attitude thing there, I'm not sure. But the Bears organization is failing him. Maybe their change in OC will help this week but if Chicago loses decisively to Green Bay, Eberflus may not have a job come Monday.

Twice? Since 1999 they've drafted 5 QBs in the 1st round. All of them busts (assuming CW is). Trubisky, McNown...They just have not been able to find a top-level QB....in 105 years.
I tend to think that Caleb's game is just not meant for the NFL. You have to be able to throw the ball downfield to win in this league and he can't seem to do it with any kind of consistency or accuracy. He ranks 37th out of 38 in catchable deep balls (20+ air yards). FWIW, Darnold is #1.

I am in no way a Williams supporter and thought that the people who hailed as generational were way of base. That said, he is a rookie, give it some time. He was thrown in too early and with expectation far to high. I also said JJM should not see the field until he is ready... hope a year on the sideleine helps get him ready.
People sleep peacably at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Watched everyone of his games at USC so have a very different perspective, he had little time to throw at USC, played behind an awful OL and was often having to run from the time he got the snap which made what he did in college even more impressive. My question is what QB has ever looked good in the Bears offense. I think you would see a very different QB if had played in our offense. And as mentioned, like most rookies he needs more time.
Many players wear more earrings, rings, and necklaces than you would ever see on most females, so not sure of the point of taking a jab at fingernail polish? I think everyone has the right be themselves in whatever sense that is.

I am still trying to figure out how he won the QB competition a week into training camp. Plus he did not play much in the pre season (2 series, one half, zero snaps) since they were resting their starters.
Lastly, I am not sure I’ll ever understand why they did not go after a coach with a proven QB development track record to help either as QB coach or OC given their coach was a defensive guy.
The organization completely failed Williams (who is not also blame free) and the fans. Seeing some of the reads he makes and throws you find it hard not to question his game readiness and preparation.
Ryan Poles completely screwed this up.

Yes, that should be interesting. I think if John Randle were still playing Williams would probably start crying. But speaking of emotional instability, this is the worst thing that could've happened.
Imagine members of your team at work going to your bosses to tell them that you're shit at your job and should be replaced. That's crushing for anyone. Now imagine getting hit with that at 22. Now imagine your company is scrutinized by the media and all of this plays out in the public eye. You feel the stares in the parking lot, at the grocery store, the gas station....
This is why you have to be careful with putting these kids in before they're ready.
