I really hate when people post stuff without even applying basic common sense.
Lets walk this through:
  1. Everyone that is paid legally in the US pays federal taxes else the employer is committing a crime. Even prisoners. This is from HR Block. It is non political. So Bill Cassidy is wrong and the democrats are correct (and you blindly bought the nonsense)
  2. Undocumented worker is a complex issue and not as simple as it looks.
    1. Someone who never registered in the system is undocumented
    2. Someone who was documented and gave up is now undocumented
    3. Someone who was documented and missed an immigrated process deadline for whatever reason is undocumented until the status is re-instated or you an proof you are working towards it. There are three categories in immigration (you have a status, working towards a status or undocumented). A missed deadline puts you in no mans land and its leverage immigration uses so people follow deadlines. UCIS does not care who's fault it is when a deadline is missed (see my other post about what can be done to improve the situation)
    4. 2 and 3 above would have paid taxes while working. The republicans always focus on the blue as if that is the only way someone can be undocumented
Lastly, I don't even know how accurate the statement is that Biden wants to give illegals a stimulus check. Here is the question... The stimulus is disbursed by IRS using last year's filing (I assume for all cases). They use direct deposit (for those with direct deposit) or mail for those who don't have direct deposit. So how would the IRS have an address of of an illegal who has never worked in the US or undocumented? See how stupid this sounds when you apply common sense?
i forgot to note that my being pissed isnt really about the undocumented, its about the fucking prisoners getting checks.  i thought that was evident by my statement of 100% on the taxpayer tit.
But the same prisoners paid sales tax. They have needs and spend money so yes they deserve the stimulus.
This is from your original post. Note the bold part
Quote:Prisoners do not pay taxes. Taxpayers pay for their every need. Inmates cannot stimulate the economy. But, under this bill they receive stimulus checks. This is a perfect example of nontargeted, inappropriate, and total waste of spending. It’s ridiculous that this is in the bill," Cassidy said in a statement
they are a net drain on the economy,  the few dollars they spend in their commissary comes no where near what they are taking from the tax payer for their incarceration.  its ok to say something the dems do is stupid, even if you voted for them its not necessarily an indictment of you.
Please don't make this a pissing contest. I do a fair share of calling everyone out. You on the other hand can stop moving the goal post. I see you came up with another vague word salad... "net drain".
  1. The 'almighty' @JimmyinSD has determined that prisoners spend only a "few dollars"
  2. You seem to have avoided one of the core reasons for your post (a big lie).. that Prisoners don't pay taxes.
  3. You said "i forgot to note that my being pissed isnt really about the undocumented, its about the fucking prisoners getting checks.  i thought that was evident by my statement of 100% on the taxpayer tit." Read your original post where you provide a quote from Cassidy and tell us how it was 100% evident. Let me guess... you really don't take him for his word just like you never took trump serious when he told the country Mexico would pay for the wall. Tell us what else you forgot
  4. You really are acting like a child. Flip flopping when your words are used against you. Almost every post since you opened this thread has been to correct you yet it is everyone who is wrong. Keep moving the goal post
If a prisoner is expected to file taxes then they are 100% entitled to the check. They are paying taxes because they earned money and people earn money to fulfil needs no matter how small those needs are to you.

By the way it is OK for you to admit you are a loud sounding nothing that posts immature content to garner attention. Go ahead say it.
oh fuck off.   if you want to get personal then I am done with you.

if you are good with paying prisoners than just fucking say it.  you arent going to change my position that it is fucking stupid and no they shouldnt be getting stimulus checks simply because they filed taxes.  There are others that filed taxes that didnt get payments because they didnt need the assistance and that should have extended to those behind bars.

either way,  fuck off,  i dont care what you think of me or my positions.

Does it even matter anymore.  We bicker about illegals, prisoners and other non-tax payers getting stimulus.  But where is the other 1.4 trillion going?  Biggest wealth transfer ever.  Our dollar is done.

I just hope the dumbshits are buying food.
It is a frightening prospect for our kids and grandkids, no doubt...

I'm already concerned Gen X and Millennial quality of life in this country will be the first to be less than their predecessors.
That is already happening unfortunately.
i certainly dont see a happy ever after for many of my kids generation.   hell I am not very confident that my retirement is a sure thing in 20 years let alone for my kids.  IMO there is going to be major blood shed once again in our country and it will rip the country in at least 2 pieces if not more.  I really see 3 countries.  the rockies and west,  the middle red states down to the SE,  and then North East,  obviously the NE and WEST follow their progressive purusuits, but middle part will initially agree on a more conservative approach, but eventually greed will kick in and it will lead to further fracturing.

We are not a country any more,  we are being divided and fractured for a reason, somebodies end game is to make the US more vulnerable and they are succeeding.

I was not trying to change your position. I was just showing you how stupid it is. Some people who filed taxes did not get stimulus checks because they did not need it (based on certain criteria). You are refusing to give stimulus checks to people who filed taxes and may need it just because they are in prison. Get the difference? I doubt you will but I have to try.
Oh! You started swearing again. You did this last time with me and ended up leaving the board for a few days. Seems its that time again for you. Feel free to suspend or discipline yourself "Mr Moderator"
You have a very inflated evaluation of yourself to think I have a thought about you. However, if you express yourself on this board, expect a response whether you care or not.

The divides are nothing new, they have been fed for generations. Rich, poor, male, female, age, white, minorities and absolutely region of the country. I am very concerned for my son's generation and future generations. There is plenty of research on mental health impacting this age group at higher rates than before. I am wondering how this COVID year is going to impact those numbers. This year has also had an impact on education and overall health and well-being. There are a lot of differences in regard to priorities. The rich have gotten richer this last year. The biases in healthcare are getting more and more pronounced due to vaccine distribution in different areas. There are a lot of issues at play. More young adults are living at home than ever before. It's a really challenging time and even though there is some light and hope, there is still work to do.

how much of the mental health aspect is due to how they have been raised?  they are very much the participation trophy generation and being taught those lessons at an early age would better prepare them for the realitieis of life much better.  also the social media aspect certainly has to be a contributing factor,  but yet we see it embraced more and more every day, despite how ugly we all know it to be.

as far as the differences though,  they have always been there,  but not like they have been driven home in the last decade or so.  we have people that are now offended over shit that they didnt even know they should have been offended over if they hadnt been told that they should be. everybody on the planet now somehow fits into at least one victim category and are being trained to see that anybody that doesnt see them as a victim is a bad person and that they should be accountable for their views.  its fucking nuts in a land of all the freedoms that we have that we have so much hatred and anger, and IMO much of that goes back to the whole country being led down a path of victimhood where there will be some salvation waiting,  but its not really going to be salvation,  its going to be a society that is run by those doing the string pulling right now except they wont need the strings anymore.

The Pandemic Relief bill that will be passed tomorrow  will do the following among others:
  1. Expand Obamacare for two years
  2. Reduce Health Insurance premiums especially for low Income earners. Their premiums could even go to zero
  3. Radically I crease access to health insurance
  4. Cut child poverty nearly by half
  5. Expected to add 7 million jobs in the economy
  6. Direct 130 billion to US schools
All these from except gathered. And we have not talked about the stimulus checks (yes Biden will not put his name on the check)
So yes reading the political nonsense people has posted here you would think the bill is useless. How anyone would see any of the above as something terrible is beyond comprehension - unless you are one of those who wanted to eliminate obamacare with no replacement or those who wanted to gut pre-existing conditions and back tracked when called out.

We all know no bill is perfect but you would think this bill would destroy the country when you listen to some.

These are facts from the bill. Now we will see how those come to fruition but any right thinking person will give the bill a chance instead of posting political nonsense and unfounded claims that are easily proven as false with the least of efforts.

And it eliminated the debt for SF and NY.  Hmmm, wonder who slipped those pork barrels in the bill?
