I tend to think he was just too jacked. You could see it in his eyes. Unfortunately, KOC did nothing to help him settle down. Sometimes dialing up a series of high-percentage passes, like quick outs can help a QB settle down, but that didn't happen. And I think the inaccuracy led to a crisis in confidence where he was not seeing receivers on the few occasions when they did get open. It snowballed.

I agree that he should have dialed up plays for Sam and he didn't. You saw he was struggling. Why not just throw in some friendly plays to calm everything down. I agree it started to snowball and fast.

I have a feeling these guys are going to be prepared for the Rams on MNF.

Maybe the loss is a kick start to some wins in the post-season?  9 wins in a row was a hella run

That is my hope, Maybe it cleared their head of their own magnificence.

Whatever the result, Darnold cost himself some big dollars last night.

Not sure what more KOC could have done.  We drove down into the redzone and then faltered.  Then got a short field in the redzone and couldn't get it done.  Then drove again into the redzone and faltered.  He was off on all throws, not just the deep ones.  But the redzone ones were the worst and that is what he couldn't overcome.

I don't think we really "drove down into the redzone" much.  We struggled all over the field, with a handful of explosive plays, and a key Detroit penalty barely keeping our struggling offense moving.  Every drive has more incompletions than completions, low ypc except for the one big run.

Out offense was completely dominated the whole game, with like 4 positive plays total for the whole game.

Yeah this team feels different to me too and it has for a while. Last night sucked. Like others have said, I kept expecting our offense to lock in at some point. Just never happened. Defense played well but eventually wore down (understandable) and was up against an all-pro-type RB.

But like PF said the season ain't over. Hopefully we are right and this team IS different. We'll know in a week.

We have a chance in LA. A team we lost to pretty bad earlier in the season. Let's see what we can do the second time around and hopefully Darnold can get his passes under control. I have been saying it to my buddies for about a month now that Darnolds passes are not on target. Hes been off for some time but we were winning. That covers a lot of that up.

There's no doubt that LAR will copy Detroit's defensive game plan. The question is will KOC be able to counter.

Maybe....

I dont know if the Rams will have the kahuna's to go zero blitz as often as Glenn did last night. I am incredibly disappointed we didnt put 30+ on em for trying that.

Darnold can move around much better than Kirko, but he is not a QB that excels at off-script. We could have used more of that last night.

Woulda/Coulda/Shoulda...sigh

Detroit played well defensively, but if Darnold could hit the barn side of a broad last night we would be having a completely different conversation right now...not to mention the safety that wasn't...and Gink's interception that wasn't...and the delays of game that came out of nowhere...and the ace kicker who suddenly couldn't kick.

We had drives of 47, 40, 63, a couple of 30+ for FG tries.  Then the wheels started to fall off.  Our D setup our offense well in the first half.  But the redzone killed us.
