OT: Regular Gas Vs Premium
#1
I’ve owned a couple cars that required premium, but for the most part I’ve been running 87 octane. I prefer to run premium in my 24 Expedition as I get about 2 more mpg, but the price difference has gotten outrageous in the last 6 months or so. Maybe I’ve just become more cost conscious.

Paid $2.67 this morning for regular, premium checked in at $3.55! 23 gallon tank I fill 3 times a week, it starts to add up pretty quickly. You guys seeing nearly a dollar difference in grade?

And for those trying desperately to turn every fucking thread political, maybe give us all a break and sit this one out.

Gas is expensive here in Palm Beach county Florida....probably 40 cents more per gallon than in adjoining counties. Its nuts. We get gas at Costco, best deal around and always get Premium because they jack up the regular with at least 10% ethanol here in the Sunshine State. Until two years ago, my wife and I never paid for gas....our companies always did. That would be 23 years of never really knowing what gas prices were because we never paid attention. Same with cell phones: we've kept our personal numbers, transferred them and used them for work numbers as well. Never see the cell bill.

I am in Germany, Hannover, 1.6 eu per liter. 6.7 us a gal, exchange no tran fees.  Have some nice alternatives MOIA, by Volkswagen, is pretty cool.  Like UBER, but VW electric vans.  Six people 1/2 hour ride 24 eu, used it a half dozen times and a great deal, don't have to worry about parking, and you riding with folk you know and like.

Why are you posting about a bunch of random shit in a football forum..  It fits in the Sensitive Topics forum much better.  And to complain about gasoline at this point in time is pretty funny regardless of the grade.

he is perfectly within his rights to discuss costs of gas grades on this forum as long as he doesnt attempt to politicize it or cross other board lines.... in fact the next person that feels the need to interject politics into a thread on the main board gets a little vacation from the site.  ( this goes for those that try and get cute with their back handed comments or poorly veiled wording,  to many are tired of this shit and come to this site to get away from that crap.)

also going to remind those that need it,  a beef that carries over from the shit show board results in being removed from that part of the board permanently and a lengthy ban from this board.... so to those that may or may not need that warning... choose your time and place carefully,  you've been warned.

we are just under $3 for 87,  I dont pay attention to premium prices except when buy gas for the toys or that may be stored for a few month to make sure I dont get ethanol ( that shit has the shelf life of piece of lettuce on a hot day )  In the winter I typically alternate tanks of premium with no ethanol, and 87 just to try and keep the average up.

interestingly I was talking to a polaris mechanic and he said to quit putting the premium in my Ranger,  said they are designed for the lower octane fuel and that is what makes them run like shit in cooler weather,  but I can never find lower octane fuel that isnt ethanol so it gets the treated premium too.

every gallon I buy that doesnt go into my truck is premium with sea foam treatment,  way way less issues since I started doing this.  Also I shut off the fuel and run the carbs dry when storing things like the snow blower, 4 wheelers, tillers, lawn mowers...etc for the offseason.  fresh fuel the next year and they pop off like new.

That’s actually much cheaper than I thought for Germany.
