Man, what's happened in Oakland? - purplefaithful - 12-14-2017 The Raiders lost 26-15 to Kansas City on Sunday. The game wasn't as close as the score might suggest. The Raiders are among the most disappointing teams of the year. They're now 6-7 after a number of "experts," myself included, thought they were a Super Bowl contender. I also thought quarterback Derek Carr was going to have a superb year. I was W-R-O-N-G. Former Raiders QB Rich Gannon, now working for CBS Sports, put that game—and the Raiders' season—in perfect perspective on NFL Monday QB on the CBS Sports Network: "Absolutely an embarrassing performance on the part of the Raiders. I mean, they didn't even get off of the bus. That game was over at the half. It's beyond me how you could be unprepared for essentially what was a playoff game. "They had the chance to be at the top of the division. They laid a big goose egg. Derek Carr was terrible. They didn't run the football. They weren't good on defense. The coaching was bad. It's inexcusable to me. And they've got problems right now in Oakland. And this has been festering for a while." http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2748673-mike-freemans-10-point-stance-look-out-the-jaguars-are-coming-for-revenge?utm_source=cnn.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=editorial Man, what's happened in Oakland? - Guest - 12-14-2017 Something is going on. There's been this rumor for most of the year that the offensive line isn't playing well on purpose. Sounds stupid, but it kind of goes to Gannon's point about something 'festering'. Man, what's happened in Oakland? - Guest - 12-14-2017 Carr's back is a much bigger issue than people realize. He is surviving off pain killers right now and probably just trying to get through the season. Man, what's happened in Oakland? - Guest - 12-14-2017 how about, they suck? A team of a bunch of flashy thugs, that show little consistency week to week. Undisciplined group that only plays well when their high priced OL dominates Mack, very good player but the annual fellating of this guy is ridiculous. Cooper can be a damn good WR but isnt in the top tier of WRs in this league due to consistency. the rest? Crabtree, Lynch, Penn, Irvin, Smith, Cook? better names than players. Another media darling falls from the ranks Man, what's happened in Oakland? - Guest - 12-14-2017 Sounds like the HC has lost his locker room.. Man, what's happened in Oakland? - Guest - 12-14-2017 Before the start of the season NFLN went through their schedule to see if they could go undefeated.... i think the "experts" there picked ONE loss Man, what's happened in Oakland? - Guest - 12-14-2017 My gut feeling is that there is a lot of tension between their very pro BLM OLine and their very religious, very pro America QB. I didn’t watch this game, but they don’t feel like a cohesive team. Man, what's happened in Oakland? - Guest - 12-14-2017 Quote: @medaille said:Whoa! Man, what's happened in Oakland? - Guest - 12-14-2017 Kind of a surprise this year, but they have been struggling since they replaced offense coordinator. Man, what's happened in Oakland? - Guest - 12-14-2017 I think its a combination of things. Carr's health isn't the issue, but his relationship with the coaching staff seems extremely tense. Instead of letting him throw the ball around like last year and the season before they're trying to get him to play smart. That has led to too many conservative play calls, which the personnel isn't designed for. Their young O-coordinator also doesn't seem to understand the rhythm a consistent running game can provide. The Raiders could be a team that really turns it around next season. Last year seemed like an anomaly, but this year's team isn't this bad either. |
