Bob Sansevere: Anthony Harris’ play the stuff of champions

In that instant when it looks like the other team is about to score a touchdown, what goes through the mind of a defensive player?
Well, if you’re Vikings safety Anthony Harris, and wide receiver Cooper Kupp is within a yard of the end zone with the football tucked in the crook of his right arm, it’s this:
“Never give up. Keep playing,” Harris said.
Harris stripped the ball from Kupp’s crook and recovered it himself, hijacking a touchdown and eliminating the prospect of a 14-7 Rams lead.
“That was big-time,” fellow safety Harrison Smith said.
That’s what players on teams hellbent to be serious Super Bowl contenders do.

He had several great plays besides that play.

That play there was the play of the game.  Way to go Harris you definitely deserve a game ball this week.

He's right....these are the kinds of individual plays that pave the way for a run.

good to see the young man step up. He was a stud at UVA, injuries kept his status down. Looked like a deer in headloghts on that TNF in Arizona two years ago, today he played like a stud. Amazing what great coaching can do with the right player

Yup, Ant’s strip and fumble recovery turned the game in our favor. Huge, huge play that rolled the momentum to us for good.

He is surrounded by incredible talent and coaching, he definitely made the most of an opportunity.

That is the most impressive thing about this year's team...  we've lost some key starters to injury and this team just keeps winning.  Harris is just another example of guys stepping up and playing well when given the opportunity.  This team is DEEP and built for the playoffs.  Exciting times!!!
BOOM

Seems like a guy ascending and going to make it tough to give the job back to Sendejo.  Sendjo is solid, but I think Harris has much more potential.

What I loved most about that play was the technique of the strip.  He was tackling first, but did so with a violent chop.  So it wasn't boom or bust, it was going to be a tackle, but the form led to the turnover.  Good stuff right there and at such a critical juncture.

That pass defense at the end is something Harris brings that I haven't seen from Sendejo.  I like Sendejo, he has been very solid on the back end.  But coverage isn't his strong point.  If Harris can handle the deep safety stuff, I think he steals the job.
