Jet Fans On Suicide Watch (Darnold Not A Lock To Declare) - JustinTime18™ - 07-05-2017 Report: Sam Darnold no lock to leave school this yearPosted by Darin Gantt on July 5, 2017, 2:03 PM EDTGetty ImagesThe Jets are going to be crushed. While any talk about the 2018 NFL Draft is clearly premature since the 2017 college football season hasn’t even started yet, we’re already getting talk about one of the potential top picks. According to Daniel Jeremiah of the NFL Network, there’s no guarantee that Southern Cal quarterback Sam Darnold is leaving school after this season. He cited “several sources close to Darnold” as saying they wouldn’t be surprised if he plays two more seasons at USC. Of course, if he has a good season and is in line to be the No. 1 overall pick (as quarterbacks will often be), it’s hard to imagine the redshirt sophomore returning to school. Again, it’s hard to know whether he’d deserve such consideration, or whether some other passer might deserve it more. But it’s July, and it’s never too soon for the NFL teams planning to lose many games this year to start panicking. Jet Fans On Suicide Watch (Darnold Not A Lock To Declare) - Guest - 07-05-2017 It was always a possibility that he may not come out with him only playing one college season as a redshirt freshman last year. He would probably be best served playing two more college seasons before entering the draft. I think the biggest mistake these college QBs make is leaving too early... take the time and work on your craft at the college level when the level of competition is much easier than the NFL. Too many young QBs get tossed in the fire before they are ready and never recover. Jet Fans On Suicide Watch (Darnold Not A Lock To Declare) - Guest - 07-06-2017 There's definitely pros and cons to coming out early...two other high profile USC QBs stayed in school, Matt Barkley and Matt Leinert...both slid significantly when they did enter the draft...both lost several million in foregone wages...then you've got the injury risk...and another year of media scrutiny... Jet Fans On Suicide Watch (Darnold Not A Lock To Declare) - Guest - 07-06-2017 IMO, his draft status will only be hurt by staying in school. Unless he doesn't want to play in New York, then I get staying. |
