Kevin O’Connell says he expects to have Jonathan Greenard on the #Vikings roster in 2026. Greenard has been linked to trade talks as of recent.

Yeah, I don't this story is over yet. Because I don't think Greenard is going to be happy playing under his current deal. Maybe they give him a new deal, but I kinda doubt it. Vikings are saying all the right things. They "don't want to trade him," they "expect him back," but I would not at all be surprised if he were traded on draft day.
If Greenard goes, you have to replace him. Doesn't necessarily have to be a starter with AVG and Turner there, but at the very least, someone who can give us Pat Jones like production from the OLB3 position.

Yeah, I don’t think KOC saying that really changes much. These guys always are saying that, until 5 minutes after the trade happens.
I don’t think it’s a lock that Greenard is traded or not traded. Economically it makes sense to get value for him when the position is a little congested. From a winning perspective, we’re probably better off not trading him unless the value is right.
Regardless, I think we’re at that point where no trade will happen until the deadline gets closer and someone has to budge a little bit. I wouldn’t expect a trade until like 2 days before the draft at the earliest. Could also be after the draft as teams could be thinking about going either Greenard or a draft pick, and once they’re ruled out of a draft pick try to make the trade then, but I’m a little skeptical on that front. I think the trade compensation has to go way up to facilitate that happening. I don’t think a 2027 2nd really evens out losing a Greenard caliber player for a whole year, when the bulk of free agency is over, so it’s not like you are replacing him with an equal player at a different position. Probably has to be a first in 2027 and then you’re talking only about teams that don’t need a QB. I still think the most likely scenario is that we pay him an extra $5M this year or something to just show up to camp on time.

he would only be hurting his next contract if he half asses it, but honestly the little I have heard from him, I dont get the vibe that he would be a bitch about it, unless he signed this deal with the promise of a better deal by now.

Turner is ready. Let the young man eat, he's earned it. Only the Vikings could and would screw up and retard the growth of two highly drafted players from just two years ago. The sensible thing to do is trade Greenard and his new contract demand to another team and use the draft capital received in said trade to bolster the roster and fill one of numerous talent deficiencies we have after four years of Kwesi. Greenard would bring a additional top 50 draft pick at minimum. The fact that this would even be debated blows my mind

And this would be the rationale for why I wouldnt be surprised if they did eventually move him...Turner is (I'm sure) jonesing to start AND to start setting the table for his 2nd contract.
Edge rotation and WR are the strengths of this team, so I am hesitant to move on from Greenard for that reason right now. Plus he's still in his 20's.
IOW, I could be talked into or out of it, depending on compensation

Greenard is a Top 15? OLB, if they trade him for a pick(s) they won't get back what they gave up.
Might make sense is if the Vikings trade Greenard for a starting defensive player and maybe picks. Unsure who'd they trade for but it'd have to be for an above average player.
I get the feeling he'll be traded, hope not but Turner is forcing this move.
