OT: Any other Deadheads out there? - supafreak84 - 02-07-2026 In my advanced age, I've really gotten into the Greatful Dead the last few years. Was lucky enough to have seen Dead and Company at the Sphere in Vegas last year and it was the greatest live event I've ever been to. Feel very fortunate to have seen Bobby play live before his unfortunate passing. Anyway, was just curious if there were any other Deadheads on the board and if you've ever seen them live at any point, what was your experience? I was a teenager when Jerry died, but oh what an experience that would have been to see them at any point from that 79 to 92ish time frame. RE: OT: Any other Deadheads out there? - purplefaithful - 02-07-2026 I gotta find a reason to get back to Vegas and time it for a show at the Sphere too. I saw the Dead many, many times back in the 70's and into the 80's a bit. I dont have great tales to regale you with, the memory is foggy lol! I do remember lots of fans that seemed like they followed them everywhere (a lifestyle) and that band jammed a long, long time - u got your moneys worth for sure. The only band I saw as frequently as the GD was probably Lynyrd Skynyrd - pre plane crash. RE: OT: Any other Deadheads out there? - 1VikesFan - 02-07-2026 Grew up being a Dead fan. Was really sad to hear about Bob Weir dying. The Dead will live on forever in minds and souls of all Deadheads. The Sphere is incredible, and if there's a band you like that's playing there....definitely go. Worth every dime RE: OT: Any other Deadheads out there? - comet52 - 02-07-2026 I was never a head but saw them 4-5 times in the 80's before Jerry died. I have a lot of mp3's of their music, both studio and lots of great live stuff that I've collected over the years. Was just listening to a Feb 69 Cryptical Envelopment this morning by coincidence. RE: OT: Any other Deadheads out there? - MaroonBells - 02-08-2026 I'm about as far away from a deadhead as you can get, but I did go see U2 at the Sphere just a few days after it opened. I agree, it's something everyone should experience at least once. The visuals are epic, as everyone knows by know, but what often gets lost is how good the sound is. 167,000 individually amplified speakers, including hundreds of 18" subwoofers for bass you can feel in your balls, all hidden behind the LED screen. No echo, no distortion, no blare, just a really clean, well-balanced sound. |
