What are the odds they keep BFlo? - purplefaithful - 12-22-2025
Master Class in defensive football scheming this year...
Would love to see him him here another season or 2 - after that I think he'll get settled with the NFL and be a HC candidate for real
I put it at 50% - should be more imo.
But there is enough smoke out there about him leaving that there may be some legitimacy to it.

25% he stays. That's accounting for a chance he gets an HC opp, but also for the chance he makes a lateral move.
With his lawsuit, he might come to the conclusion that his best avenue to an HC job is to be on staff when the HC gets fired. I think it would take a lot for KO to get fired here, and a LOTTTT for that firing to happen midseason any time soon. Midseason firings give the interim coach the best chance to showcase themselves. Essentially, he might Daniel Jones us.
The Vikings should try to lock Flores up and I'm sure they will, but after three seasons here I can see some compelling reasons for him to move on.

I could see Jerry Jones loading up the Brinks truck to get Flores. There will be demand, and although it probably won't be a head coaching job, he'll be compensated well to come in and run a teams defense

Per PA this morning, Flores isn't going anywhere unless it were a HC job, but that isn't likely with the law suits.

I'd say 80% chance he stays. My guess is the Wilfs give him a big bump and maybe make him Assistant Head Coach as well. The lawsuit will keep him from getting more than a HC interview. His three kids must be be in the 11-14 years old range. That's a tough age to move kids unless there's a big, big advantage in money or opportunity and I don't believe that's possible. He gets all the credit for the Defense working for O'Connell unlike if he was working for a defensive oriented coach. By all accounts, he and KOC have a great relationship. He appears to have fully embraced the community. I just don't see it.

This mini win streak has shifted the narrative then because as of a couple weeks ago, Judd and a couple others thought Flores would take a lateral job with another team as it appeared many within the Viking organization might be on short leashes and Flores didn't want to get caught up in the wash and would probably opt for a situation with more stability. Especially if McCarthy didn't progress this last month. I think it's 50/50 on if he comes back at this point. I could see a handful of teams (like Dallas) who would happily make him one of the top paid coordinators in the league to come turn around their defense. I certainly hope we don't lose him. He's been consistently good during his tenure in Minnesota

If there are coaching staff purges, my $$ is that those cuts come on the offense and special teams.
BFlo's staff is on pretty solid ice from cuts
$$ wont scare the Wilfs away if they want someone in the bldg. They'll pay him and not blink

Agreed, but I think the thought was that if McCarthy wasn't developing and that puts the front office and coaching staff on short leashes heading into next season, then it's possible he could go looking at other opportunities. I dont think we've seen enough of McCarthy to say those concerns have been elevated. Flores is really holding all the cards here and there will certainly be suitors offering big pay days. I think ultimately he'll evaluate and decide on the situation that best positions him to be a head coach again. Is that in Minnesota? Stay tuned..
