#Vikings K Will Reichard was told by the league that his kick back in London did hit the camera wire, and the league would remove the kick off his record. The next day, the league decided they wont take it off his record:

Reichard: “I guess they at first said that they would (change the statistic) and then came back the next day and said they couldn't. But they admitted to it hitting. Take that for what it's worth.”

Optical illusion as defined by the NFL - apparently league has hired David Copperfield to provide more mystique to the game.

It feels like this should be easily provable or disprovable by showing us every camera angle of the play. There’s 10+ cameras all recording on every play. Why are we stuck looking at the broadcast footage which shows the interesting bit for 0.3 seconds or about 2-3 frames. I feel like you could show us the sky cam footage and it’s probably shaking all around as the ball hits the wire.

yes, and watching the flight of the ball it absolutely looks like it hits something. And when has one of his kicks been short, especially from 53?

Watching, I figured it was the rushed approach and he got under it too much.  But yes, he has hit from much deeper, so his leg isn't the issue.

FWIW, on this recent short kick, it was rushed and he had to use the normal ball and not their special kicker balls, so it's not going to have the same distance as the special kicker balls. It's probably more comparable to the pre-2025 kicker distances.

I'm not arguing the hit or miss part either way,  but I dont think the absence of the K ball had that much of a factor.  Weve seen WR hit from much further last year.  Mis hit or hit the wire,  but the ball doesn't likely add that many yards.  Butker hit from 59 against the Colts in a very rushed scenario earlier this year using a playing ball and thats only 3 shy of his career long.  In sure the k ball helps,  but I'm guessing the real advantage is in control more than distance.
