Jaxson Dart is going to start his 2nd game against Philly - StickierBuns - 10-07-2025

So why would Minnesota be adverse to starting JJ McCarthy after the Bye against the Eagles? Thursday night Dart goes up against Philly. I don't think the Giants are that concerned, what they ARE concerned about is getting Dart reps. Game experience. Bright lights action. The opponent doesn't matter. Its at home, just like the Philly-Minnesota game will be.

If McCarthy is truly healthy and I HIGHLY expect he will be after the bye week barring a setback, he's going to start. And he should. No angst necessary. Let's f-ing go here with this kid and get him some much needed NFL playing time. Its not rocket science here, its simple. GAME REPS. KOC wants to sail the turbulent seas of a young QB this year so next year the water will be calmer.

Agreed, McCarthy needs reps and a healthier OL..

Agree that JJ should start as soon as he's healthy. My only hesitation is about the health of the line when he does that. Poor protection can damage a QB. Dart's line is completely healthy.

I would think (minimally) we'll be w/out Kelly and O'Neil.

Maybe CD off the pitch count by then.

Hoping O'Neill can be back. They called it week to week and the Philly game will have been 3 weeks.

We're getting to a point where the kid's gotta get back on the field and STAY under center, because he has to put games together ASAFP.

One good quarter in a season that'll be hitting Week 7 before he potentially plays again is NOT anything like impressive or desirable. Don't get me wrong, I'm still very much backing JJM, but he'll be fighting a brutal public perception issue on top of everything else if he goes one whole season on IR and follows it with a bunch more lost time, and/or brutal inconsistency when he does play.

It's completely unfair, but it's the truth: his peers are making waves while he's missing games. There's already plenty of cause for concern, he needs to re-stock some faith into the Purple Fandom.

Dart's line is amazing. Did anyone see how much time he had to throw last Sunday? That was a JJM wet dream to have so much time.

Couple things here: his peers have played many more games and his peers, other than Nix, were drafted before him. Fans forget he's 22 years old and was the 5th QB taken. Minnesota was never ever going to get Williams, Daniels or Maye. Why anyone would lose faith already is a head scratcher, he's played 2 games. But he does need to play and needs to stay healthy.

I think you start young QBs when they’re ready (not necessarily ready to take you to the SB, but ready for that next step in their development). I don’t think you pick and choose which teams you’re going to play your young QB against. You can definitely damage some guys by sticking them out there too early, but there’s some things that can only be gained by live reps. That said, I think the Browns choice to play Dillon against a Flores team on another continent was questionable. I’d have waited another week.

What happens if your banged up line accidentally gives JJ time to throw?

listening to KFAN last night on the way home,  sounds like the pitch count wasnt really a thing,   CD pulled himself from the game stating that "something didnt feel right",  or something like that.

I noticed in the Steeler game that he would lay on the field after plays and need help up,  I wonder if his conditioning is shit and he is just getting gassed?  Pulled himself to keep from getting his ass whipped?
