I have a question..... - StickierBuns - 10-02-2025 How in the hell did scouts and GMs agree that Bryce Young is the #1 overall pick in the Draft he came out? HOW? He looks like my 9th grade nephew with an oversized helmet. And he's not good.......at all. The answer to my question is predicting a franchise NFL QB is a spin at the roulette table. Its nuts. But this seems especially egregious. Bryce Young never ever felt like a franchise QB to me. And I'm stupid. How with this kid?? And I say all this knowing that Bryce is really a great young man. He really is. I almost hate saying this out in the online universe because its a damn hard position to get right in the NFL. But damn....... https://bleacherreport.com/articles/25254634-nfl-scouts-rip-bryce-young-amid-panthers-struggles-i-dont-think-hes-guy RE: I have a question..... - purplefaithful - 10-02-2025 1st in Alabama single-season passing yards (4,872) 1st in Alabama single-season passing touchdowns (47) 1st in Alabama career five-touchdown games (5) 2nd in Alabama career passing yards (8,356)Apr 27, 2023 Bryce Young was exceptional in college at the University of Alabama, winning the Heisman Trophy in 2021 and leading the Crimson Tide to the national championship game that same season. He set multiple single-season records for the Crimson Tide and finished his career as one of the school's most prolific passers. Young was known for his high football IQ, elusiveness, and ability to make accurate passes under pressure, earning him a reputation as a top prospect before being selected first overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. The hard part (as we know) is projecting those college accolades to Sunday's. That I believe is still as much art and luck vs science. RE: I have a question..... - comet52 - 10-02-2025 The tiny QBs who succeed in the NFL have elite scrambling and escapability traits. Young doesn't have those. I never saw him as worthy of a high draft slot. But people can get fooled by numbers and narratives and overlook the reality. RE: I have a question..... - pattersaur - 10-02-2025 He was comped to Kyler Murray as if that was a good thing at the time. I'm surprised it's gone THIS poorly for him, but yeah. Looking like a big time bust. Has shown flashes but unless he really turns things on the rest of the way, Carolina will be trying to upgrade the position. RE: I have a question..... - JR44 - 10-02-2025 Mac Jones, Tua, Young - all Alabama QBs drafted hight in 1st who have not been great pros, meanwhile the guy who they wanted to move to TE who transferred schools and then picked in the 2nd round, ends up being a pro bowler and Super Bowl champ. RE: I have a question..... - FLVike - 10-02-2025 A few of us had Stroud over Young, in fact, we were talking about what it would take to trade up if the Texans didn't take him. RE: I have a question..... - MaroonBells - 10-03-2025 Hindsight is 20/20. I remember watching that class because there was a chance we could've taken our QB that year. My impression of Young was that he was very good...at Alabama. Good arm, good accuracy, good mobility. Smaller than you'd like but didn't seem to have trouble seeing over his line. My problem with him was that everything was wide open. He'd get 10 minutes to throw the ball and his receivers were open by 10 yards. I could play QB behind that line. I thought the same thing about Stroud at OSU. Every receiver open by 10 yards. They may be great in the NFL; they may not be. But you sure as hell couldn't tell if they had NFL-level poise under pressure by watching Alabama and Ohio State beat up on everyone. The opposite was true with Will Levis. He did what he did behind a terrible line, and so I thought at least he might be used to the kind of pressure he'd see in the NFL. Turns out all three have been busts. Stroud less so, but after his great rookie season, he's been pretty mid. |
