Kwesi has lots of dry powder - Montana Tom - 08-24-2025
Right now, after the Howell trade, the team has:
1 First-round selection
2 Second-round selection
3 Third-round selection
4 Third-round selection (projected Compensatory pick)
5 Fourth-round selection (projected Compensatory pick)
6 Fifth-round selection
7 Fifth-round selection (Acquired from Philadelphia in Sam Howell Trade)
8 Sixth-round selection (Acquired from Houston in Ed Ingram trade)
9 Sixth-round selection (Acquired from New York Jets in Harrison Phillips trade)
10 Seventh-round selection
The total number of picks for the Vikings now sits at 10, with three on the second day of the draft, and six on the third day of the annual NFL event. That is a lot of firepower for the Vikings to do a lot more moving in the draft, or even to trade for someone they think can tip the scales in their favor.
A year ago at this time, we were sitting with FOUR.
Given Kwesi's prowess with finding UDFA's, I would venture to say he looks at this many picks as trade fodder, rather than restocking the team ala Spielman.

I believe they may have used the 6th from the Ingram trade for Jordan Mason and the 6th from the Phillips trade in the Howell deal. Their original 6th could be tied to the Akers trade with Houston (which if conditions were met would land the Vikings a 7th). If conditions weren't met Vikes would appear to have one 6th rounder left. OTC does now project them to have an additional 5th rounder for Cam Robinson. All very confusing with the conditional trades and pick swaps....

10 picks. I used to call that a "Ricks Pack" since Spielman seemed to maneuver around just enough to end up with 10. I think we're probably going to lose one or two in a potential WR trade.

Montana Tom, that list is just a little off, but I'm not surprised. All the pick swaps Kwesi's been doing would make anybody dizzy

The team traded away its own fourth-round pick as part of the Cam Robinson trade from last season. The extra seventh-round pick from the Texans appears to be a part of last year’s Cam Akers trade, as is the loss of one of their sixth-round picks for this year.
The Vikings had acquired a sixth-round pick from the Texans in the deal that sent Ed Ingram to Houston, but then turned around and used that pick to acquire Jordan Mason from the San Francisco 49ers. They also sent another sixth-round pick to the Eagles in the Howell trade, a pick that they had just acquired in the Harrison Phillips trade, which explains the lack of sixth-round picks on the list."

Many guys are going to be cut between today and tomorrow, might be something worth pulling the trigger on AFTER the cuts or as we've seen in the past, give someone a 6th or 7th on a guy they want and don't want to compete in the open market with after being cut. Either way. They've got the ammo if necessary.
