Vikings 'bracing' for Addison 3-game suspension - StickierBuns - 08-04-2025

Looks like the rumors are the first 3 games. Anything else we can pile on McCarthy's plate besides his first game on the road against a NFCN rival on MNF?  Confused

Kinda what we all expect. I'd be surprised if it ended up being less than 3 games, but also more than 3 games. Next man up is Nailor. And Lucky Jackson has been a camp standout. Rondale Moore will get some snaps too. It's not ideal, but if there's one position where I think we can survive losing a starter for 3 games, it's probably WR.

I mean actions have consequences and Addison was a dumbass.  I expected 2-4 games so not surprised

Addison always feels like a guy that the Vikings will trade or let him walk after 5 years. Not sure why.. its a feeeeellllling.

I'll be shocked if it's not 3 games

I mean, he’ll probably get more stats and more money going somewhere else.  He could get 35th best WR money staying here, or probably break into the top 20 if he went somewhere that had less skill position players stealing touches from him.  And from our side, how much are we really going to pay our receiving core?  It probably makes more sense to draft a younger cheaper option, although maybe Hockenson gets the boot first.

Having JJ on the other side means feasting off single coverage for Addison.  Look at what happened to KJ Osborn after he left the Vikings... 7 catches for 54 yards with the Pats with multiple healthy scratches in all of 2024.  Waived and signed with Washington on a 1-year minimum prove it deal.

There were a lot of potentially elite WRs last year entering the league.  Is Addison really worth top 20 pay?  I know what his Agent will say...but I have my doubts.

Yep, keep the WR2 pipeline filled and don't overpay anyone unless they produce for a good amount of time without JJ in the lineup.

I get what you’re saying but I don’t think Addison is going to experience the same things that Osborn did.  Addison has first round receiver talent.  KJ didn’t.  Addison will likely have many suitors and will get to pick where he gets to go.  KJ basically went to the only team that made an effort, a team who pretty much sucked all around on offense.

Instead of Osborn, you could also point to Thielen, who had a pretty mediocre season in KOC’s scheme is designed to force-feed JJ and then went to on to have two better seasons in Carolina.
