Johnson and Poles tied at the hip through 2029. Both hoping Caleb is The Man.

Here's an interesting tidbit from the Netflix special 'Quarterback' from Jared Goff:

"Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff is still feeling salty about how his exit from Los Angeles went down.

In an episode of Netflix's "Quarterback" released on Tuesday, July 8, Goff opened up about his feelings immediately after being traded from the Los Angeles Rams to the Detroit Lions on Jan. 30, 2021:

“I think for me, ultimately, it was the fact that there was not a conversation had and there wasn’t like a, ‘Hey, we’re thinking of moving on’ type of thing. There was nothing,” Goff said in the episode.

“You wish that it wasn’t such a blindside, and you wish that there was some sort of maturity, I guess, to have that conversation and to be able to let me know what’s going on and how things went down and why this is happening.”

I dont blame Goff for feeling that way, I'd probably be the same...

I initially thought Rams got the better of that deal. In retrospect, its one of those rare deals that ended-up working well for both teams.

Detroits done a nice job surrounding Goff, better than I thought they would.

Will it continue without coaching continuity? I think so.

Since their hirings in 2022

Kwesi Adofo Mensah:
• 34-17 record
• One division championship
• Two playoff appearances
• Hired the 2024 COTY

Ryan Poles:
• 15-36 record
• Finished or tied for last each year
• On second HC of tenure

Not even close.

1 inherited a competitive roster with a competent QB and talented offense,  the other inherited a shit show.  I think W-L records is a pretty simplistic way of judging their performance.   In theory KAM has the biggest challenge,   he has to build a roster from good to great,  Poles can be viewed a succes simply by getting his roster out of the gutter.

Legit, but Poles also chose to come out of the box with some big talk...and his team has basically been the punching bag for the NFCN since. I get it, I understand ambitious goals and statements, but the results have obviously been brutal and rah-rah candor only goes so far.

This season is looking to be the most interesting in years, particularly in our division. The Bears are analysts darlings for their new HC and player moves, but we've seen forever that loaded rosters and hype don't win games: successful execution on the field does. They have a lot to prove, and the pressure just got heavier with this extension.

I'm mildly surprised they decided to extend him now...

IMO the Bears floor is 8 wins.

I'm not surprised actually, this is such a Bears move. We'll see how it works out

And no worse than the 10th pick in the draft. Including the top pick.

If the bears don’t do well this year the seams will come undone in Chicago.
