OT: Easter Brunch For The Fam - JustInTime - 04-14-2025

We decided to go out instead of cooking a big meal. First restaurant we contacted was $550 for 4 adults and 2 kids. I asked if that includes a 20 minute Q&A with the risen Jesus himself.

WTF

Leave out the eggs and it might drop to $350?

$30 for a 12" thin crust pizza delivered from the local restaurant now, 3 toppings. I cant do the national chain pizza's.

This time of year kicks my butt....Passover Seder this past weekend, Easter Sunday this week.

We gotta do both in this household.

Glad 4th of July is so far away.

LOL. I don't feel so bad about my $50 ham now. We were going to color and hide Easter eggs too but can't really justify taking out a 2nd mortgage to do so.

Usually the best food in town is my kitchen. Fortunately, I've taken to understanding cooking a lot more in recent years and I've gotten much better at it. The good news is that I enjoy it a lot (try my smoked brisket on the Traeger!).

The service is better and the wait staff (my wife, upon the occasion that she serves me) is better lookin' as well. :-)

I hate going out to eat. It’s so damn expensive and I can make every dish better for a whole lot less.

Problem is, I don’t get a 18% tip.

I'm doing ham, ribs, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, cornbread, biscuits, tortillas, apple pie, pumpkin pie, flan and empanadas at this point. I might add a few more things

Jesus is doing the cooking. No way he has time for a Q&A!
We always have rabbit for Easter, the kids love it!

Restaurant prices are nuts. They've lost their minds. Portions are smaller, wine pours are skimpier and service is spotty. They know they got you for Easter Brunch so yeah I'm actually not surprised unfortunately. We hit the ends of Happy Hours as much as possible here in East Boca to save some $$$ because its pure insanity. $65 at a nice place for veal parm. No decent glasses of wine for under $20. Bronzino $44. Stooopid.
